HOW'S MY DRIVING?

While the staff highly encourages everyone to participate, only comment if you are capable of giving and taking potentially harsh concrit in a mature, level-headed manner. Assume good faith at all times. Crit is meant to be resolved, not "won". Give mutual respect for each other's work and ideas. Aggressiveness creates unproductive stress and conflict. If you are emotionally compromised, you are not fit to captain the Starship Enterprise need to step back, take a break, and then return when you're ready.

Anonymous commenting is DISABLED, but sock journals are ALLOWED. If you would like to use a sock journal, you will have to request access to the comm first. If you want to receive anonymous crit anyways, please take advantage of the Private HMD thread (see below).

We have provided a form to post with, if you would like to use it. Mentioning things like canon points, permanent losses and recent major events in their lives in Paradisa may help give people a better idea of the character's mindset and current actions.

Nepeta has been in Paradisa for a year and a half. She's toned down her roleplaying quirks a bit (and with certain individuals tries to nix it altogether). She also knows what her fate is back home, and although she has come to accept it, she still doesn't like talking about it. That said, how am I handling her voice? Do I show her more petulant side enough, or am I making her a bit too sweet? I try to bring out her more feral habits when I can, but I'm not sure if it's enough. Please let me know!

Eli has been in Paradisa for just three months. I will be honest and say that as much as I love him, I am having a bit of trouble with him. It's a little hard to branch out as he doesn't have much interest in more casual, small talk journal entries. I've been trying to get him interested in matters regarding the world beyond, but his threads are slow due to the difficulty I'm having with how he would respond to certain things. Any help would be great as I'd love to make this work!

Mabel has been in Paradisa for one month. I'm having a total blast with her, and right now she is one of the easier characters for me to tag around with. I feel pretty solid with her right now, but any crit at all is welcomed and appreciated.

Valerie-- Hey, that's me! Do you have anything you'd like to add about me as a player or a mod? I'd love to hear how I'm doing. I've got a full-time work schedule, but I do try to keep my threads going as long as I can and find a good balance between playing and modding. How am I faring?

I haven't had the opportunity to thread with Mabel yet but I really appreciate your willingness to backtag with Nepeta! Especially because I am so slow, ahaha. That said, I've seen you drop threads with Eli more quickly than I'm used to seeing from you. I totally understand where you're coming from with not really knowing what to do with him in this setting (I have that problem with some of mine, too), but maybe just be more aware of it and try as hard as you can to think of ways to keep threads going. Obviously not to the point of forcing it, but at least to a natural conclusion of a conversation.

Aside from this month, I have noticed that you tend to wait until the end of the month to make your posts with Peter. While it's not necessarily a bad thing, the end of the month is usually a time when many are rushing to post their activity, and often times these posts can be overlooked or skipped.

His posts all seem to be very "slice of life." Again, this is not necessarily a bad thing, but as a super hero, it may be contributing to why it may feel like he is beginning to grow stale. His posts are often discussions on simple things like chores or musings on the current plots that are taking place. Rather than sit on the sidelines during plots and play the role of commentator, try having him become involved in a plot. With three characters this may not be possible for every plot, but even seeing occasional action may help to break the repetitiveness.

I hope that this is not taken the wrong way, but I do wonder why you chose to pick up another character if you are aware that you are having activity issues and that you are struggling with motivation.

You do tend to apply for characters on what seems to be impulse, but I have noticed that they do not last very long. Kallen seems to be the character you have held onto for the longest. I well understand that urge to apply for someone new and fresh to play with, but when they don't last very long, it can be a bit discouraging to try and form CR with your newer characters because one is never sure how long that impulse will last.

I will say that when you do apply for new characters, they are very strong right away, but their momentum slows after a month or two until they are eventually dropped. I would very much like to see this kind of excitement and drive in Kallen and Korra.

General Note: I want to apologize for my general slowness, absence and dropping of tags. It's my last semester of college and it's been kinda slamming me hard so far with work load. Throw in family issues, work and health and yeah- I've been dragging and i know it. I hope things will ease up soon, if not I might be dropping one of my characters to lighten the load. So I'm sorry for having to deal with my general fail the past month, especially with Allen and Reno since I know they've been getting the worse of it.

CLARK KENT 4 years, post s9, memories of Jonathan Kent. / supes Four years is such a long time, man. I love him and always will, I know his voice like the back of my hand, I don't have any doubts about my playing, I do a couple hundred comments a month or so on average with him, there's just this huge niggling problem that has been around for a long time: I've done just about everything I care to do with him. Anything else I want to do just isn't feasible in Paradisa or wouldn't be worth the effort in set-up. There isn't much superhero-ing to be done. He's happily married, has a family, and has a house with a white picket fence and a golden retriever. He's used to the constant revolving door of Paradisa and he's okay with it; he's never been one to make huge circles of friends. His hobbies are either astronomically solitary, like reading or writing, or just not doable in Paradisa. Given the nature of his home universe, Paradisa is practically a vacation much of the time, and that's how he's come to see it. He's come to terms with the place and I'm not sure whether it would make sense to put him in the other direction. What I'm saying is that I'm not sure where I'm going with this or what I even want from here on with him, I guess. It hit me the other day that I love playing him but I might as well just musebox him casually if he's just going to stick around for certain people. Idk. I hate letting go. I don't want to let go. I just feel like it might be His Time, so to speak.

EZIO AUDITORE 9 months, late 1488, ability to use eagle vision. / assassino Comfortable in how I'm writing him but less comfortable in how it comes off to other people -- in other words, I know exactly what I'm doing, and endlessly check and double-check to see that it falls in line with his canon self and historical perspectives and oh god my google history, but I'm not sure whether I'm actually conveying it right. It's especially tricky to play him in a place that doesn't have much opportunity for, uh, most of his work, so I feel he ends up being 90% philanderer instead of more balanced like in canon, but heyyyyy, settings can be weird like that. Thoughts? Do I need to tone it down? Tone it up? Do something else more frequently? Have any questions for why I did a particular thing or why he reacted in a particular way? Etc etc etc. Also, I'd reaaaaally like more negative CR for him. He hasn't grown out of his douchey ways yet, people should really dislike what an arrogant prick he can be sometimes. And in that line of thought: I need to tag around with him more.

→ I'm feeling comfortable with him! He's coming up on a year next week, and I don't see him going anywhere any time soon. Still, questions for you guys: Is the voice still there? Does it seem like I get lazy in places? Has the development since the canon bump felt natural? Is he repetitive and/or excesssively confusing? Anything else?	→ I'll admit I've been struggling a little. His voice isn't quite as clear as Sherlock's, and he's taken the back burner since things got busy for me in RL. Hoping that new canon coming soon will jumpstart him a bit, but I'd be thrilled to hear your thoughts now!

I've been busy lately! School has started up and I've got a lot on my plate now. I know I've been slower than usual, but I think I've been able to pick that up the past few days. Hopefully that will stick for the long haul.
