Halloween is next week and Cair Paradisa has every intention of celebrating the event!
OPT-IN COSTUME PLOT
On October 30th, residents will find that the castle has chosen a Halloween costume for them. How thoughtful! It may be the very costume your character was going to wear on their own, or it may be the complete opposite. How kind the castle was to your character is up to you, but they will wake up wearing it already.
They also will not be able to take these costumes off. No matter how hard they try to remove their clothing, rip it to shreds, light it on fire, they'll find it's the most durable outfit they have ever worn. They'll be stuck wearing this costume until midnight, November 1st. After all, what would be the point in taking it off before Halloween is officially over?
There's something different about these costumes, too. Residents may find that they're slowly starting to behave like their costume. Witches may cackle and werewolves may howl at the moon. Doctors might actually think they know what they're talking about and super heroes may attempt acts of bravery. Your characters are not turning into their costumes physically, but they certainly believe they are. By Halloween, residents might even believe that is what they've always been all along.
This aspect of the plot is entirely optional! You may also have your character wake up in a costume but not fall for the castle's mind trickery, or you may have your character just pick their own costume and not fall prey to the castle's sense of fashion at all.
HALLOWEEN BALL
The much anticipated Halloween Ball will be held on the evening of Halloween at 7 PM sharp. (Only IC-ly! The post will go up before that.) All residents will receive a formal invitation, so feel free to have them discover these at your leisure at any time. (Extra hi-jinks if residents receive them at different times. Why did Rise get her invitation days before Joshua got his? etc.)
Residents will find they will not be allowed entrance without formal attire or a costume, so dress appropriately. The ball will last through the night, ending at midnight when Halloween is over, but anyone at all is welcome to wish up some DJ equipment and keep the party going until morning.
CASTLE-WIDE EFFECTS
The castle will also undergo a makeover just for the occasion! These changes will go into effect on October 30th, the same day that the residents will wake in their costumes (if applicable). To give you an idea of what it will look like:
