ACTIVITY CHECK DISCUSSION

Hey guys!

So there's been some confusion and disagreement about what should/should not count for activity check, what is counted where, etc. So this is a post where we'd like to discuss revamping the activity check system with you! Once we can get a clear idea of what everyone feels is fair, it will make it easier for us to have a clear system where everyone understands the activity requirements desired of each character in Paradisa.

SECTIONS:

What do you think should count for a post?
What should constitute thread "size"?
What should constitute comment "quality"?
How much should the mods be responsible for? The players?
How should a thread on a log be judged?

For the most part I was referring to the posts where it defaults to "room filter" or "kitchen filter".

I too always try to do a bit of filler for my journal posts, just to assure I'm giving people the proper mood/tone that these stray sentences over a magic journal can convey.

I'm not saying that I don't use the journals and allow action to happen in those posts. In fact, a lot of the time people talk over the journal and then meet up. What I personally am trying to avoid is where I know that I'm asking someone else to participate in essentially a log with me, but I'm letting the journal record it, just so that it's in the comm that most people check.

I'd prefer it if there wasn't such a stigma against the log comm and that people checked that as often as they check the main journal comm.

That's mostly my point and how I had been tailoring my activity these past few months.

I try to make it a point to check the log comm once a day lately just in case. It's a shame it's getting tossed aside, and if I see anything in there that would be applicable to me, I'm going to try to make an effort to tag it.

Though yeah, agreeing on some stuff being badly organized just due to neglected comms makes me sad, too. Perhaps we need to find a way to encourage people to scan both daily (or whenever they check the game). I know prose can be intimidating, but I'd rather see a post where someone is having fun rather than the next American Novel coming out of every post.

:same person, I'm just hopping accounts all over the place tonight.

I agree that it should be checked more often, and I don't even demand prose in my logs, because I know some people do feel intimidated by it and as it's been stated earlier there is no rule that states the log comm is only for prose. I've posted up AIM logs and other things in there without a problem.

I've always just assumed the log comm was for things that didn't involve the journal.

I think it will always come down to personal preference, which is where I think the main issue comes up - that people are getting told that their personal preference isn't enough.

Yeah, I like that AIM/IRC/snail mail/smoke signal logs can be used for it too. If the players want to count it as game canon they should have a place for it.

I'm definitely in for anything log involved counting towards AC; I know some people prefer it that way, and it should most definitely be respected. It can definitely be a lot more work and sometimes it just fits better. It's part of the game officially, too, it should never be forgotten during checks.

Yep! I totally agree.
