ACTIVITY CHECK DISCUSSION

Hey guys!

So there's been some confusion and disagreement about what should/should not count for activity check, what is counted where, etc. So this is a post where we'd like to discuss revamping the activity check system with you! Once we can get a clear idea of what everyone feels is fair, it will make it easier for us to have a clear system where everyone understands the activity requirements desired of each character in Paradisa.

SECTIONS:

What do you think should count for a post?
What should constitute thread "size"?
What should constitute comment "quality"?
How much should the mods be responsible for? The players?
How should a thread on a log be judged?

I think my view about the log comm vs the main comm has always been an issue of "how is this being played?". To me, the log comm should be reserved for prose tags. The main comm should be utilized for first person, comment-style tags.

But I do realize that not everyone feels the same way about that.

I'd probably feel the same if it hadn't been explained to me//hadn't felt to me more that the main community is journal based, and the log community is more about meeting in person with the option to do prose that folks wouldn't respond to in the journal community. That, and hearing before (and seeing again) that the log comm here is open to whatever style of tags a person is comfortable with.

Back when I started in roleplay on LJ, log comms were exclusive for prose. It's been weird watching the change over time, and the change hasn't been universal, if I've encountered it around a fair share these days.

I totally understand the prose vs [actionspam] argument, but some people write plenty in those actionspam tags when they are in the journal comm, so I guess I never see the difference between allowing a lot of prose in your brackets vs not using the brackets at all.

In another game I have actually had someone come to me stressed out because they felt like they couldn't put enough in their narrative non-bracket tag to reply to me. Which is why I open it up to whatever the person is comfortable with using, because I would sooner get the replies and the interaction than worry about how they are formatting their tag.

No, I totally get that! And as you know, I'm happy to follow the lead of whoever posted the log. I just personally would only utilize the log comm for prose, because I don't have an issue with actionspam being in the main comm. I don't really have a problem with room filters and joint posts, because I view it as more of a style thing than a "would the journal capture this?" thing.
