ACTIVITY CHECK DISCUSSION

Hey guys!

So there's been some confusion and disagreement about what should/should not count for activity check, what is counted where, etc. So this is a post where we'd like to discuss revamping the activity check system with you! Once we can get a clear idea of what everyone feels is fair, it will make it easier for us to have a clear system where everyone understands the activity requirements desired of each character in Paradisa.

SECTIONS:

What do you think should count for a post?
What should constitute thread "size"?
What should constitute comment "quality"?
How much should the mods be responsible for? The players?
How should a thread on a log be judged?

And do you feel that thread should count as a whole post? Part of one? etc.?

I think that makes sense, but then it also comes down the other player's comfort level. We don't know how that player feels (whether they feel the thread has been dropped, whether they feel it's been "completed" to a level where they can continue to play their own character, etc.), which is hard to judge unless ... that person talks to us. Do you think we should just leave that up to the player to approach us?

Talking to Val down below, I think my main objection to logs not being counted comes from closed logs, where all parties have agreed to participate. I feel like those should act like joint posts with all parties tagged getting AC credit.

If a joint log isn't moving and the player thinks the other is ignoring them, they should bring it to you guys. It shouldn't be your responsibility.

If an open log isn't moving...idk. I guess that's a fuzzier area, so I'm less certain how I feel. Val mentioned not knowing how it's any different from a comm post, and I guess I agree. I just hardly ever touch the open logs, so I'm mostly operating from a log = joint effort prose position.

I don't think there was ever the idea that closed logs like that shouldn't be counted (at least I hope I didn't imply that anywhere). The biggest issue was more ... giant group logs where many people tagged in, even if they didn't really do much in it.

Yeah, that's where the debate comes from here, mostly -- some people tag with just as much prose in brackets on the main comm as someone might tag with third person on the logs comm, so it's hard to say how to count either when the lines are blurred, I guess? That's just my thought on it, anyways.

But yeah, idk. I am okay with stepping back and letting people come to us if they have an issue, but at the same time, I know not everyone will ... and I worry for those people who won't.
