HOW'S MY DRIVING?

Comment with the names of the characters you play for feedback on your roleplaying. Other players will then reply to your comment telling you what they honestly think in a constructive manner. While the staff highly encourages everyone to participate, only comment if you are capable of giving and taking potentially harsh concrit in a mature, level-headed manner. Assume good faith at all times. Crit is meant to be resolved, not "won". Give mutual respect for each other's work and ideas. Aggressiveness creates unproductive stress and conflict. If you are emotionally compromised, you ~~are not fit to captain the Starship Enterprise~~ need to step back, take a break, and then return when you're ready.

Anonymous commenting is ENABLED. Anonymity doesn't detract from the validity of concrit. An anonymous compliment is a compliment; an anonymous crit is still a crit. However, if you are going to post anonymously, consider it your obligation to follow up –– it is frustrating for muns to never get a reply back, and HMD should be first and foremost an ongoing discussion.

We have provided a form to post with, if you would like to use it. Mentioning things like canon points, permanent losses and recent major events in their lives in Paradisa may help give people a better idea of the character's mindset and current actions.

Alternatively, you may choose to post a link to your private HMD thread on the character's journal and take comments there instead. The first thread of this post will be reserved for those people, and we will freeze those comments. People will be expected to follow the link to the character's individual HMD to give crit there.

OKAY. so, i won’t lie, i have been super uncomfortable with myself in RP right now. i’m not even sure where to start. i took such a long hiatus and now find myself kind of lost getting back into the game. i’ve also been getting sick on and off lately. my drive for tagging is up and down, and i don’t feel i have a grasp on anyone’s voices anymore. i feel the most confident in akihiko but i do have a billion questions to pose soooo...!

akihiko: how has he been since he came back to life? i had him killed because i wanted to play around with death in paradisa and bring to light the more serious nature of it. so far, he hasn’t come to admit anything but it’s something i’m working on and hopefully will do right! but is he too angry, angsty... neither of those? am i over playing this? i don’t want him to just forget about the fact he died and went through two weeks of being stuck in freaky darkness. ALSO! aha, is his relationship with claire moving too fast? i’ve never played out a cross-fandom relationship OH GOD SEND HELP.

kate: at a loss with her. with her book being delayed AGAIN, my muse sort of plummeted. need to work on tagging out with her more though she’s currently taking a break from the castle. she’ll be back in a week, i promise. i’ll be doing another canon review for her, hopefully to keep myself going because i really do love this character.

karen: needs to tag out DIRELY. i apologize for the major fail on her part.

uru: oh boy. my longest and favourite muse and i haven’t a clue what to do with her anymore. coming up with posts is hard for her and as you can see by my really slow tags with her, her voice is fading. doing a canon review for her too because i would hate to drop her. i love her CR, i love her interactions and her growth in paradisa. she’s really... sad lately, it’s not right. i’ve already made some plans with people so she can blow off steam but i’m worried she’s done with. she’s just kind of THERE and at the same time, i’m so sick of how dramatic she’s been. i really need help with her, this isn’t the same girl anymore. i wanted her to mature and still maintain her optimism and happiness but i royally fucked up. D8 she also hasn’t been my main focus lately, so i haven’t been trying to fix the issues properly.

derp. TL;DR. :( i’m trying to crawl out of this lame rut. you guys know how this goes, crit, concerns, plotting ideas all go here. thank you in advance!

I know none of your characters so I cannot offer anything by way of actual helpful crit, but I would love to plot with you or help with Uru because now that I'm actually threading her I've enjoyed her so much. :(

Tyki is a tease and probably no help with the problems you're having her, but maybe Rin could help? She's been kind of going through the same problem lately, I find... maybe they'd understand each other.

just hanging out with rin would be lovely! she's also intrigued at how "normal" rin is and she does admire her already for the outpost stuff.

i can't... even lie, i love her CR with tyki. also i wanted to thank you since it's creepy but fun at the same time and not jumping the gun and putting her in a really bad spot. i feel bad that she is going to be avoiding him with perona's warning and all but you know my open posts are always... open, heh.

i'd really love for rin and uru to get closer! /tl;dr everywhere

Haha, don't be fooled Uru. THE NORMAL IS ONLY A FRONT! But I agree, they could be good friends and good for each other :D

And, IDK if this would make much of a difference, but maybe we could thread out a girl's night or something? From what I know, they get mentioned a lot and handwaved. There's a lot of "We'll get the girls together and do this on Friday!" But there's no... actual CR that we get from the girls nights. But maybe threading out something like that would help define those relationships more? And that way Uru would have a group of friends she knows she can be happy with?

i agree with this so much. i have a habit of having my characters say, "we'll do this and this and this day" but then i end up handwaving/implying because i backtag a lot and forget to focus on the present. i'm all up for the girl's night out! uru would love that, seriously. ♥

as far as aki's life post-death goes i really loved how the thread with claire after he came back worked out. i am obviously ... the most biased ever but i think you did an amazing job of handling it and showing how uncomfortable he was with it and it just ... warmed my snow queen heart. and don't think that's ... the end of claire dragging it out of him. :| because she's a relationship failure which means she's going to ... fuck things up and cause fights probably by dragging that shit up again. SO I DON'T THINK YOU'RE OVERPLAYING IT, because when it comes down to it he experienced death and that's ... really intense and it is hard to deal with and it was by lois, basically, which would make it even worse. WORRY NOT.

also /steals all your karen cr.

AHHH. ♥ the night they spent in the room (NOTHING DIRTY GUYS, IF YOU'RE READING THIS) he obviously awoke a few times. i'm going to continue with his sleep being broken every now and then and one of these days i will have a post with him up at some crazy hour because i really... am crazy about making this death thing serious. mmmm that post sounds like an awesome idea like straight up 4 am akihiko's all /deadeyes at the journal lmao. I LOVE THAT YOU'RE CRAZY SERIOUS ABOUT IT THOUGH because a lot of people brush death stuff off and that makes me sad :( because i factor it in intensely to claire's characterization thinking about how many times she's had to go through that and i'm always like WHY AM I THE ONLY ONE ... but i'm not the only one. because you are that way too. ♥ and ilu.

Sob, the saddest thing is that you are directly responsible for me reading Shiawase and Power Girl, so! Aside from what you've already mentioned regarding Uru, I really don't see much you can improve on...Peej and Aki are both spot-on, I think, and only need to get out a bit more! The only thought that comes off the top of my head is that they're both very much team players; Uru makes friends with everyone so that's not so bad, but considering their respective positions in Superhero League something something idk the names and SEES, getting them more involved with all the heroes/all the Persona-users might be a start on getting them more active!

do you find uru has regressed in any way in para? i'm worried she comes off too mature or too sad. the slenderman plot is fresh in her head but i have plans already to let her cool off from that.

you're right about that. all of mine are team players (well kate i am literally ?_? DC WHYYYY) and i should be focusing on that again. i'm been trying to have karen tag around more and let her slowly become my main focus. i will definitely work on this, though. thank you!

Honestly, it's been so long since I read it - or stopped, since that new translator makes my English major very sad - but...a little, yeah! Not so much the too mature since Uru was always mature - living on her own, paying the bills, working diligently and still going to school - but Para does seem to have beaten her optimism out of her a bit. Maybe a canon bump would help.

...not gonna lie, this makes me happy just because I can get CR with Karen. *^* But yes! Another sudden idea would be her rollin' with the Marvel heroes as well. I'm sure she'd be interested in finding out more about all these dudes with powers that she doesn't know of, too. Karen's a smart girl and Aki is...in a sweatervest!

I don't know any of your characters canons at all, but echoing the willingness to help pull anyone out of their shell. I'm always happy to do anything with Crowley and Uru, as I am Guido and Karen. Hit me up any time you need me for that!

my biggest struggle with uru is how she doesn't talk about her "problems" with people because she doesn't like to trouble them but then i see she's doing... just that. idk, it bugs me on a personal level to see her wallowing like this.

that said, i really missed her CR with crowley while on hiatus. i need to tag back his post but eeee happy times with crowley. :D and i love guido and karen already. they can make fun of jamie together forever.

This isn't crit exactly, and though I haven't had CR with anybody but Uru and only that one thread, but I would like to see her follow up on talking to Emil about having Felix get a look at his curse. This seems to happen to me a lot where I say "get back to me about this" and then nothing ever happens with it. I suppose it's partially on me for not getting at you OOC to see if you are going to pursue it, but also given your massive CR pool it's probably easy to forget incidental encounters like that.

I guess that was the long way of saying "CR plzthnx?"

i haven't forgotten, i promise. it's my fault entirely because i went on a three week hiatus and since slenderman happened and emil was one of the children, she doesn't want to be so quick to shove him into something if he's not feeling up to it. this is something i will discuss with emil's player, however! i would like for them to try something. :) i know it won't work but if it gives us longterm CR, i will be happy. felix uses magic, which uru absolutely adores. you can bet she will bug him!

I'm glad to hear you're back, and I hope things perk up more for you soon. I've missed talking to you and playing with you.

And that said, I was hoping we could rekindle Damian and Uru's relationship eventually. I know he was a big source of stress for her, though, so if you need time to get her back on the good track before Damian eventually goes crawling back, I can wait for that (if you're still game, of course.)

That and I'd dig it if Cassie and Aki could hang more. I know I can be really flaky with her sometimes but I'd really like to try to improve that, as I really like their friendship.

i would very much like to fix that relationship. :( i've just... been so bad at it. every time i came close to making a filtered post (i had like a billion scenarios in my head it's so ridic) i backed out because it could... blow up again and considering damian just came from the slenderman plot i'd hate to add more stress.

definitely would love that. he really likes cassie and is intrigued by her ajkfhks all the blonds... i actually keep thinking in my head she might be the first person he'll openly talk to about the whole being dead shtick. maybe... i'm treading this line carefully because ah, i don't want to overdo it or downplay the consequences. e_e

BASICALLY, echoing what everyone else has been saying -- I am more than willing to plot/do whatever to help Uru out. :) Both Lance and Ino are willing to hang out with her, though I imagine hanging out with Ino would probably be a little more productive in terms of her getting back on a happier/more positive track since ... well, Ino's been through her share of highs and lows in her time in Para and she'd be MORE than happy to sort of help her out :) Whereas Lance would probably just sit there and be a lineface/wall s;dlfjsdlf

well, i think with the latest break in D: coming up soon, that should hopefully help with uru's lack of happy. emil will gladly spend time with her, too ;w; that way, she can get a break too. but i absolutely adore her and would love to see her stay here.

i think it should, too! when things happen one after the other, she's not so... resilient? it sounds like we're going to be on downtime so i'm looking forward to clearing her head and strengthening her bonds with new CR and ones she isn't very close with.

by the way, how do you feel about emil, felix and uru working on that curse sometime soon? as felix-mun stated above, they would like to get the ball rolling on it since i was on hiatus for so long.

Kate is beautiful - the way you play her makes me want to go track down her canon. I don't know Karen, but she seems like she's doing well, too. I know how you feel about Uru, too, because that's EXACTLY what's been happening with Barney. I think it might be Long-Term-Resident syndrome. They should start working on a cure together. :P

As for Aki? I may have told you this over AIM, but he's dead on and I love it. Even if Harry may not... ahaha.

you should totally read kate's canon. :x and then you can join me on my rage that DC keeps delaying her book. /shakes fist UGH. that's partially why her muse is slipping; the more time progresses and lack of canon there is, the more nervous i feel about playing her. i don't want to headcanon a million things only to be proven wrong down the road.

as for uru, i didn't even think about that. now that you said it, i have a feeling that's just it; being in paradisa for over a year and it's finally taking its toll on her. i need to hit barney up with her. they spoke like ONCE ever sob. normies got to band together. B)
