HOW'S MY DRIVING?

Comment with the names of the characters you play for feedback on your roleplaying. Other players will then reply to your comment telling you what they honestly think in a constructive manner. While both praise and critique is welcome, we'd like to remind you that this is a valuable tool for many of our members. We'd like to request that all comments remain constructive.

While the staff highly encourages everyone to participate, only comment if you are capable of giving and taking potentially harsh concrit in a mature, level-headed manner. Assume good faith at all times. Crit is meant to be resolved, not "won". Give mutual respect for each other's work and ideas. Aggressiveness creates unproductive stress and conflict. If you are emotionally compromised, you are not fit to captain the Starship Enterprise need to step back, take a break, and then return when you're ready.

Anonymous commenting is ENABLED. Anonymity doesn't detract from the validity of concrit. An anonymous compliment is a compliment; an anonymous crit is still a crit. However, if you are going to post anonymously, consider it your obligation to follow up –– it is frustrating for muns to never get a reply back, and HMD should be first and foremost an ongoing discussion.

We have provided a form to post with, if you would like to use it. Mentioning things like canon points, permanent losses and recent major events in their lives in Paradisa may help give people a better idea of the character's mindset and current actions.

Alternatively, you may choose to post a link to your private HMD thread on the character's journal and take comments there instead. The first thread of this post will be reserved for those people, and we will freeze those comments. People will be expected to follow the link to the character's individual HMD to give crit there.

I'm really glad I decided to man up and try Logan here, because it's given me the chance to have more CR with you, and I pretty much adore everything you do. You have a genuinely unique style, that manages to inject your own sense of humor and personality into RP without ever disrupting the flow and ICness of your character personalities, and those are the people I love RPing with the most. (God bless brackets, forever)

I really really love your Batgirl, so so much, and I love how you stepped up and just fucking owned that Slenderman plot with her. She was literally everywhere. The mind boggled. That kind of commitment is great to see.

I also think you do a commendable job of balancing activity with so many characters. I never feel like 'where's so and so' - they all pop up enough to feel like constants in the community.

Basically, I look forward to every tag I get from you, and I'm really glad I've had the chance to get to know you OOC. You're so great to plot with, too, and I'm really looking forward to this Logan and Julian stuff ;___; Now you will never get rid of me.

In an attempt at crit, I really really liked Eris' weird.... sphinx post awhile ago and I feel like stuff like that might draw more interest than a string of posts about her popping up. I'll admit I'm always afraid to tag those posts because they're so open. Sometimes the more specific stuff makes me feel more comfortable, I guess, but I do like... the unpredictability of it, since it's Eris.

In other words, I don't know what I'm trying to say /best critter ever

Ahhhh yay ;_; lmao I felt bad saying it because I was like maybe I really am just ... missing things. BUT YEAH I would love to see fewer filters/more open type posts for people replying to because your Angel is just a treasure to me :( and I want him always. /FLINGS CR AT YOUR HEART.

I just want to say that I've seen most of the TRON characters played badly more often than I see them played well, and Quorra's no exception. She's definitely a tough one to get right, what with having to strike a balance between being badass/wise/naive/dorky all at the same time. Personally, I think you do a damn good job, though I'd definitely love to see more of her dorky side come through. But I can see that deficiency being due more to her being stressed out and outnumbered than anything.

I'm glad I ran into you guys. It's been a pleasure so far. :)

I've pretty much only seen about... two episodes of Supernatural but based on the thread I've had with you, others I've seen here & in other games I think you've got a good handle on his voice and are doing great about it :]

It'd be nice to see how Dean handle's finding out his loss too (or if/how/what you change it with if you manage to). I love seeing him around, he's a great character and you're doing fantastic with him. For ideas on the game maybe a more action based log with the journal accidentally picking up anything he might say? (Since Dean's not big on the whole journalling thing). Mini thought that's hopeful seen as helpful?

[identity profile] todd-fan.livejournal.com 2011-03-12 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh wow. You have no idea how much that has made me smile. I even did a little dance. It was a lot like that (http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d100/toddfan/gifs/teehee.gif)

I'm sitting here trying to think of words to explain how warm and fuzzy that's made me, but I can't seem to think of anything other than 'greeeyhee!' which I'm pretty certain isn't a real word.

Thank you so much, you're a darling <3

No worries! And me too :(

Firstly, thanks for bringing this up since I was getting the feeling there was concern about this.

I agree with the Spoiler vs. Batgirl part. Her canon point is still early in the Batgirl run, but she's also had a year of development in Paradisa so... yes, I can definitely see lots of validity in this. I was actually doing some canon review recently and looking at the pages in which she interacted with Batman, her dad, Dean, Tim, people who were not nice to her and others, and in Batgirl you don’t see that aside from a classmate and the RR crossover, really. I think I’ve been doing like… 60:40 of Spoiler to Batgirl, when really it should be like 25:75.

Julian's mun and I are friends, yes, and we've both been paying attention to the consequences discussions and trying to figure out how to handle this. In the last month we've slowed stuff down (Steph hasn’t gone to visit him and their journal conversations have been short), and I've been sitting here thinking how to go about this. She does realize he’s dangerous and unpredictable, but Stephanie is a believer in second chances. Their chat after Clark put him in jail made her go realize that there’s a reason behind his actions, but since she feels her big speech just went in one ear and out the other, her tolerance is on its last legs.

I’m trying to steer her around into being more assertive, especially with Julian. She sees him as a friend, but he doesn’t deserve her friendship if she’s treated like crap. She knows this! But at the same time, if she tosses her hands up in the air and walks off, giving up on him, what stops other people from doing the same? 8( Julian’s mun and I were planning on threading them sometime soon, so I hope I can get some more assertiveness rolling there and shift gears.

I think I might be getting a little complacent myself after having her for a year, when in the first few months she was around she had a lot of conflict with Tim and Damian to keep me on my toes. Definitely on me. Regarding Damian, though, I would like to point out that here in Paradisa she’s gotten to know him a lot better than she does in canon. She’s learned what makes him tick to some level, she’s been around Talia, she sees how he is with Bruce. In canon she has very little idea what his life has been like, but in Paradisa, she does.

I apologize about the CR D: I definitely don't want to seem selective with her. Regarding Cass, the mun’s been working on her as Jenn noted below, though that’s not to say that I’m not to blame for these two buddies not interacting as much as they should be. If you’re referring to the Babs that just recently dropped, I did drop the ball a bit there. I don’t want to come off as closed-off as a player or Steph to come off as shut-in or uncaring as a character, so I’ll do my best to toss her out there more and get her some more friends.

Again, thank you for bringing this all up to me. :) I really do appreciate it and I'll be keeping this all in mind whenever I log into her account to thread with her. I WILL MAKE YOU PROUD, ANON. I love Steph's character and I see I could be doing better in some regards.

my biggest struggle with uru is how she doesn't talk about her "problems" with people because she doesn't like to trouble them but then i see she's doing... just that. idk, it bugs me on a personal level to see her wallowing like this.

that said, i really missed her CR with crowley while on hiatus. i need to tag back his post but eeee happy times with crowley. :D and i love guido and karen already. they can make fun of jamie together forever.

Before you joined the game, Hetalia was a series I hated with a vehemence and I was sure I wouldn't want CR with Italy.

Boy, did you prove me wrong.

He's engaging, a delight to tag with, amusing and occasionally touching and sweet. You have shown to be active and easy-going with plots and I am beyond happy I jumped into tagging with you as I love our CR and hope for it to continue for a long time.

I feel it has... a broader depth of character or something? Smallville's had a fuckton of canon but I don't feel it focuses on the characters quite enough for my liking, what with all the guests appearances and million subplots and stuff. It's a lot to cram in a 44-minute episode. Hell, we're coming up to the last five episodes and they're STILL introducing new characters. But for other DC or Marvel canons where there are decades of extra stuff to peruse, it can really do wonders to flesh out a character. It also helps for how they'd react to AU characters.

It's pretty cool to watch Smallville episodes now and see Clark interacting with characters he met in Paradisa years ago, and then have my Clark's reaction to them confirmed IC, largely because I based it on the comics. It harmonizes the different universes well.

Honestly, it's been so long since I read it - or stopped, since that new translator makes my English major very sad - but...a little, yeah! Not so much the too mature since Uru was always mature - living on her own, paying the bills, working diligently and still going to school - but Para does seem to have beaten her optimism out of her a bit. Maybe a canon bump would help.

...not gonna lie, this makes me happy just because I can get CR with Karen. *^* But yes! Another sudden idea would be her rollin' with the Marvel heroes as well. I'm sure she'd be interested in finding out more about all these dudes with powers that she doesn't know of, too. Karen's a smart girl and Aki is...in a sweatervest!

YOU'RE WELCOME, DAHLING. Just remember to take it at your own pace!

Especially since characters have pounded it through skulls that death isn't permanent and I don't think we've seen anything to show inconsistencies with death? We don't even generally have death-drops, so it becomes the logistics of trying to figure out a way to keep Riful alive but contained.

Which I think could be really cool! I'd love to see characters come together to figure something like that out, to figure out more long term ways of handling villains, since aside from jokes about "no kill" policies or the like, Paradisa as a whole does need to shake out of that apathy of "sure we can kill them and that handles them for two weeks and then they're back as good as new and killing them gets that much harder but we should probably try again anyway since how else are we keeping someone ridiculously strong in check?"

Which isn't just a Riful thing either! It's more a villain thing, and what I really like is that I think villains can win in Paradisa, and also that players can allow the heroes/neutrals/normals to also win, over time, without destroying each other's fun.

Which is an exceedingly long winded way of saying I would love to get involved in the future with Sakura and also that I agree with creative solutions, as death has not as of yet been in any way a really... good? Or even scary? Solution. UNLESS I MISSED THINGS which is entirely possible.

[identity profile] grotesques.livejournal.com 2011-03-12 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
saying things like that really means a lot to me! honestly, you don't know how muc hi appreciate it.

yeah, i feel like i got a little overwhelmed with her there and that i was shoving her too much to the front, but in all honesty, i'm glad i did because it got her some fantastic CR and really helped me grasp her voice.

aaaa, thank you again. really. I WOULD NEVER WANT TO BE RID OF YOU

hhrmm, i think you're right! honestly, when i was trying to write a post for her, i wasn't quite sure what to do because Eris isn't the kind of person who lets people walk in on her unless she wants them too. i want to have more things like the sphinx happen, but i've been running short on ideas so i plan to canon review and then go back and research some more to come up with some things to do posts about. however, i will try to cut back on her creeper posts because i do think that they're a bit excessive.

dahling, you're fine. thank you so much. ♥

[identity profile] nishimono.livejournal.com 2011-03-12 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Mm! I know that the Fifth Doctor brought up that he'd heard people had been debating locking her up and starving her? And recently Akihiko and I think Teresa were mentioning the PP's de-powered cells. Was there anything else brought up?

Don't forget Arthas either--did we have an update on what people were thinking of concerning Frostmourne?

[identity profile] freila.livejournal.com 2011-03-12 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, thank you! I'm really glad to hear that, and I'm enjoying the thread too heh o/////o ♥ For the both of them being reserved, Haruhi is easy to play off of too.

i don't see killing as a viable option or a clever one. then again, we have many anti-killing characters they will also step up and say NO to that option.

Yeah, thank you for all of this. ;_; I'm planning on changing his loss soon so I'm working on a plot regarding the loss change... as for the accidental action based log and the journal picking it up, that's definitely something I'm planning to do in the near future. Dean is definitely not one for the journal, you're right.

I hate to bring this up, but is there a reason that you dropped Ares's thread with Molotov? It was just really disappointing, because I'd waited so long for them to get CR.

[identity profile] matchmaker.livejournal.com 2011-03-12 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
No, it's definitely something that I've been doing and haven't even really been aware of. I'm going to work on it though so no worries. I also appreciate the words of encouragement. I always get very doubtful of Angel's voice for some reason, so it's definitely good to hear that I'm still on the right track.

And Claire-chan is great too. :3 Just thought I'd throw that in there.

... watch my crit fail on you.

Okay so Lorne. His voice is so clear and perfect and just... perfect. I love the nicknames he comes up with pretty much in every other tag (... I need to get Mina to Caritas like the letter said too hah) and... yeah he's perfect. And now a total papabear. I love him. Can I keep him?

Mal. I don't know her canon yet but she is utterly adorable. I love her voice and, reading some of her other threads like the stalker that I am, she makkes me laugh and she's just awesome. Can I keep her too?

You. You were my buddy and (other than the lovely people that got me here) were the first person I knew, obviously. You were so kind and welcoming and patient and I still worry that I bugged you insanely with my daft questions and completely random crap (and still do) but you're absolutely fantastic, friendly and helped me settle in so much (which is why I still keep bugging you. Totally your fault :P) Can I keep you?

... there was good crit in there, honest.
