Hey guys!

Some concerns have been brought to me re: the upcoming horror plot and the recent trend of stressful plots. I feel that right now would be the best time to address that, because while I have heard a lot of excitement about these plots, I know there are also some people who don't want to speak against them and "rain on any parades," so to speak.

As this plot is my baby, I really do not want to do it unless the time is really right, and I want people to actually in the mood for horror. I stress that I'm not canceling this plot at all, too, though it may be postponed.

So, before this plot happens, before there are any serious plot posts or whatever, I am polling to double-check.

[Poll #1708229]

Edit: I realize this doesn't take date into account –– we'll be leapfrogging a few months! But like I said: the plot is my baby, it will still happen. The entire thing is set up and ready, so it won't be difficult to find a new time for it.

So once upon a time, there was an American gal who decided she could play a British character. Not only that, but learn how to write an accent in a way that makes it sound like it wasn't an American failing to write a British accent. This...turned out to be a much larger task than the American gal expected! Luckily the young American gal managed to get the help of the British muns, who have been incredibly patient with my lack of cultural understanding or grasp on their language (not once did they hit me when I would accidentally type up "I could care less"!).

However there is nothing free in this world, and my price has come in a form of a loss. Since the closest estimate to Allen's origin is Northern England while he normally speaks with a practiced polite standard British accent? For the next day or two, Allen will be stuck with a Yorkshire accent. Meaning whenever he speaks, he'll have a very thick Yorkshire accent. If he writes, he'll be able to write in normal English just so...we have some chance to understand him.

We went with Yorkshire since that is where Ena is from and we're gonna go with modern slang just so there is some hope of translation. Ya, you can guess who demanded this.

Just to give you an idea what the accent sounds like:

I'm off t'beck t'eat sarnies and drink a cuppa tea. It's bleedin' maggots but thar's neither nowt ner summat.

...Yeah.

AND IF YOU GUYS WANT TO JOIN IN, HERE IS A GUIDE WRITTEN BY ENA.

Hey y'all wassup wassup Thano in the castizzle droppin' a message from all of your friendly neighborhood Homestuck muns! We, as a fandom, know that our kids' typing quirks can be as annoying as all get out, and naturally, no one should be obligated to hack through tons and tons of crazy colored text just to interact with a bunch of rambunctious teenagers.

(Oh, and for those who are curious - the reason why they are recorded down that way, the way I've been seeing it, is because they're dictating their posts and the castle accommodates for their text color and fonts. :|a If I'm mistaken in this, let me know!)

Knowing that several of these characters can be annoying enough without the text/colors exacerbating the problem, we have come up with a compromise! Every single one of us so far has a permissions post on each of our journals where you can request that our characters don't tag yours with their typing quirk. It's very simple, very quick, and we will take zero offense from it. :D

BUT WHERE ARE THESE POSTS, YOU ASK?

Right here. )

These are the permissions posts for all of the journals for every Homestuck mun we have at Paradisa so far. In addition, you can also land one comment in this very post to state that you would like all of us to turn them off, and we will adjust accordingly! (I haven't screened comments yet, but if you'd like me to, just pop a message to me at hesterstowel on AIM or pm this journal, and I will. :>)

And... that should be all! If you have any questions, leave a comment and we'll get back to you! /ROLLS ON OUT
