There's a lot of history in these walls. Some may think that that history is lost once those who remembered it are gone, but they forget about the one who has been here through it all.

Plot Overview
Beginning September 12th, residents will begin to hear whispers in the castle. If they lean their ear to any wall, they will find that these whispers are ghosts of the past. Specifically, the castle's past. Soon they'll learn that any event that occurred within these walls is being echoed to them. All the fights, all the losses, all the breakdowns, all of the secrets they thought was buried in the obscure pages of a journal come to life again.

Breakdown
➝ The whispers can be heard anywhere in the castle, but they will only be clear if an ear is pressed to the wall. If followed to the original rooms they occurred in, they will be the loudest.
➝ The voices they hear are literally the voices of the past. Friends, loved ones, residents who they never knew once passed through these walls, are all the ones speaking to them.
➝ This is primarily a FREE FORM plot, so from the 12th-14th, it's fair game. However, on September 14th there will be a mingle log for the big finish.

(In other words, this excludes world change plots. If you are in question of any, feel free to ask!) Hey guys! Sorry the timing on the plot resolution really got pushed back. TL;DR work got a lot crazier than I anticipated last week/weekend with overtime and interviewing for then being offered a department lead position on a trial basis. I knew we'd be slammed on the holiday weekend, but I had no idea I'd be that thoroughly wiped out. I didn't have time/energy to touch this last week and didn't even fully communicate that since I kept thinking I'd have a night where I could catch up on all of it instead of coming home and passing out. For that poor planning and the ensuing confusion, I'm very sorry.

That being said, I'll do my best to get that sorted out for all of you as much as possible in the coming days since I'm off until Saturday. If you'd rather handwave for the sake of moving forward just contact me with any questions you need answered to do so. To be clear, I'm going to keep backtagging the plot with the npcs and Meg at a certain point, but I'm also happy to work stuff out OOC if anyone wants to get on with things since it's no one's fault but mine that this got so delayed.

Hey guys! Just a PSA that I'm extending the plot by a day, mostly because RL yesterday just wasn't as good a day for NPC tagging as it was supposed to be and I don't want to jump to the plot resolution without having actually wrapped up backtagging deaths and rescues and whatnot. When I planned this out I didn't know I would be bumped to working full-time and interviewing for a team lead position at such a new job, but life goes on and so does the plot! Thanks to everyone for your patience with everything. This adjustment should keep things from getting too jumbled.

So, to be clear, the only date thing affected by this is the timing of the introduction of the plot finale. No other dates change, no other deaths are affected, but the plot will extend to day 8 for the finale. The Big Damn Heroes post will go up this afternoon (PDT) and the ensuing aftermath will go down tomorrow. The plot was scheduled through the 31st for some ~unknown possible consequence~ anyway, so this does not alter the game calendar, either.

Hey everyone! How's it going? I'm being hit hard by unexpected RL obligations so my apologies on my slower-than-normal-slow just lately. I've just sat down to get my head together and do things, and I found myself easily confused (I'm old, it happens). I started to pull the plot pages together to make a list for my own reference and thought, meh, why not share it for everyone. So here's the posts & things.

A tiny bit belated but the pacing shouldn't be affected. I'll be hitting NPC backtags tonight after work (and on my lunch if I can swing it!) So there will be some more Daeva and Wendigo action on the Search Party log.

Day 3-6 Log - Guilty Consciences OTA. Torture your guilty jerks if you please, or bug the people who are slowly bleeding to death. Feel free to start your own threads too, the OTA and closed ones are just for action specific to the mirrors, but anyone who wants to attempt to stop Mary can hit up the post and see what happens.

Day 1 Wednesday, 8/20: Setting change! Info here at the Plot Kickoff Mingle Log

Notes about the setting change: Weapons, ammunition, automobiles, and mechanical parts can be used and tinkered with for the duration of the plot - but when the setting shifts back to normal, all of these things will vanish, no exceptions, even if they have been scavenged and incorporated into existing machinery or otherwise hoarded.

Overnight (prior to day 2), April Ludgate will be killed by the Big Bad (journal post/dictated & action)

Day 2 Thursday, 8/21: Search Party Log will go up in the morning (open participation, no previous signup necessary). ICly, the idiots brave heroes going out into the forest will set out on their own or in whatever small groups they want to go in will leave sometime in the afternoon and search into the night. Somewhere along the way, the Tenth Doctor, Conan Edogawa, and Serin Osman will be taken captive by a forest-dwelling monster. There will also be an opportunity to spot the Big Bad so that residents have some inkling of what they're dealing with.

Day 3 Friday, 8/22: A journal post (dictated & action) regarding the above disappearances and the death of the Tenth Doctor will go up, open for action. If adequate action is not taken by Day 5 (8/24) Conan and Serin will also perish.

A log dated for days 3-6 (8/22-8/25) concerning the vengeful spirit hunting down those with a guilty conscience will also go up. This will also have an open participation option aside from those who have already signed up for a death or a possible death.

Day 4 Saturday, 8/23: Howl will be killed by the Big Bad (journal post/dictated & action)

Ashura will be killed by the vengeful spirit (day 3-6 log)

Day 5 Sunday 8/24: Felix will be killed by the vengeful spirit (day 3-6 log)

If they have not been rescued, Conan and Serin will die. (journal post/dictated & action)

Day 6 Monday 8/25: Duke will be killed by the Big Bad. (journal post/dictated & action)

If the vengeful spirit has not been defeated, Galadriel and the Fifth Doctor will also die. (day 3-6 log)

Day 7 Tuesday 8/26: Wrap up/final battle, Residents v. Big Bad. Gren and Spike will be maimed. Signups for deaths for the battle will be open through next Monday, 8/25. This will be open participation free-for-all for NPC interaction but those who sign up here for death/maiming will get priority.

Days 8-12, Wednesday 8/27-Sunday 8/31: Resolution/Consequences (mingle log)

Just a reminder that today is the last day to sign up for deaths for the beginning of the plot! Most slots have been filled, but I still have up to three places open for characters to be killed by the big bad! Dates

August 20th - 31st


Overview

Evil - or more of it, to be precise, is coming to Paradisa, in the form of a three pronged attack. In the world where these creatures are from, not many people know or believe that they exist, but they have all been known to wreak havoc, claiming many lives. The foes are very real - all of them have been seized unexpectedly, suddenly finding themselves being used as pawns to create chaos and discord by something much older and sinister than even the worst of them - Paradisa itself, as it twists and provokes their malevolent natures to its own end.

Lives will be systematically taken, but for the sake of playing with its food, the castle will be changing the rules this time around. Instead of being sent away, the souls of the deceased will remain in the castle, disembodied for at least one full day before being returned. This will of course come with a steep price that will debilitate them significantly, be it physically or emotionally, for no less than one week. After a slight learning curve, the disembodied spirits can still interact with those around them. Whether they choose to do so to resolve unfinished business or to exact revenge is up to their own free will. Vengeful spirits are more powerful, but a word of caution: Once a soul taps into the rage of vengeance, it's hard to come back and even harder to control.

In the world where these monsters come from, there are certain individuals who hunt and kill the things that go bump in the night. Though they are most often solitary people that live on the fringes of society, these hunters pass on the lore of how to track and eradicate monsters. They stockpile weapons for use against common threats and some even go traveling around looking for trouble. Paradisa has been home to a few of them from time to time, but unfortunately, none are current residents - though you might say they have friends - of sorts - currently shacking up within the castle walls. It's always hard to tell whether or not either of them will ever actually be of any help, though.

August 10th-15th


Seasons in Paradisa are usually their ideal temperature to better lend itself to the picturesque quality it wraps itself in. But just to remind you that it could change that at any time, a massive heat wave will roll in and put all of your coping mechanisms to the test. Each day the temperature will rise, accompanied by different cumulative effects. Please keep these in mind for any posts you make during the plot.

Day 1 - Forecast for today, 88°F/31°C and Sunny

It’s plain old hot. Likely unnoticed by many, the Fall Seasons room is sealed shut.

Day 2 - Forecast for today, 90°F/32°C and Mostly Sunny

It’s starting to get real. The castle’s internal temperature regulation shuts off. The Winter Seasons room is sealed shut

Day 3 - Forecast for today, 95°F/35°C and Partly Cloudy

Any ice/winter/cold based powers will no longer function.

Day 4 - Forecast for today, 100°F/38°C and Mostly Cloudy

Taps that run inside the castle will not run any colder than lukewarm. However, cool water can easily be found inside the giant buckets of water balloons that are scattered throughout the castle and all over the grounds. Meanwhile, people from the City Royale flock to the river to cool off.

Day 5 - Forecast for today, 108°F/42°C and Overcast and a High Chance of Rain

Cold drinks and foods can no longer be wished for, however they can still be found in the castle. In the pool area, a large pool party will be hosted. An open mingle log will be provided on this day. Just before sunset, the thunder will start, and after dark, the thunderstorm begins.

The downpour will continue until the morning of the 15th, when the plot ends, and the temperatures will be back to normal.

[Optional opt out] – If, for any reasons, you would not like to be part of this event or your characters health would be too badly affected by the heat, you may have then remain or return to their room, where they will remain locked in for the duration with plenty of air conditioning and cool drinks.

It happens so suddenly that it takes you a moment to register it. One minute you know exactly where you are and the next you are somewhere else entirely. High ceilings, lush carpet, grand staircases, and chandeliers... A castle that you might only hear tales of, and now you find yourself standing in it.

You have no recollection of this place, and you certainly don't recall any of the strange people that are milling about around you. There's also that nagging feeling that something is missing and you just can't place it. Perhaps you'll figure that out in time, but for now...


Welcome to Paradisa
June 16-20



Whoa whoa wait. My character has been in Paradisa for X months/years!
This is true! But they don't know it. Every resident will believe they are a new arrival for the duration of this plot.

Will they remember their past stays/existing CR?
Nope! Remember the very first time your character arrived in the game? It's like that for everyone. All residents are getting the reboot treatment as if they're starting from scratch.

Can my character remember bits and pieces of their Paradisa history/CR?
We want all characters to be on the same page with this plot, and that page is a blank page. Take this opportunity to make new CR! Let your character forget that jaded feeling they have from living in the castle for too long. It's all brand new and fresh to them.

Will my character regain their memories when this is all over? Will they remember what happened?
At the end of the plot, Paradisa will return all of their memories to the residents, and yes, they will keep all memories made during this plot. Now they'll just remember two arrivals in the castle! (Or three, or four...) Have fun sorting all that out.

What about the journals? Can't my character just go back and read about what happened to them?
All existing text in the journal will appear to be in a strange, alien language. Your character can try to decipher the text, but they won't have any luck. (Paradisa might even give them a migraine for trying.) But while the old text is illegible, any and all new entries will be readable by all.

At the end of the plot, the castle will make sure to set the journals back to their single, default language setting.

That's it. The castle's had it with doing all the work. On April 1, it's stepping back and letting residents wreak havoc on each other instead.

Whether your characters is a goody two-shoes or totally straight-laced, they will all feel the undeniable urge to pull pranks, either harmless or not so, on each other. Set traps, dress up in silly costumes, drop off mysterious suitcases or even work in teams. Anything's possible in a castle that grants your every wish!

Sleeping Plague
February 24-March 2

A strange sickness is sweeping through the castle and City Royale. The townspeople can be found falling asleep on the streets, slumped over their meals, conversations interrupted by sudden snores. Horses snooze on their feet and birds plunge from the sky, stricken with slumber.

Castle residents won't be immune either. Starting Feb. 24, an unbearable drowsiness will loom over the castle and surrounding areas, affecting everyone with some eventually succumbing to sleep's embrace. But there are no sweet dreams to be had here. Soon after, affected characters will begin walking and talking in their sleep, dreaming of their home worlds. Thorin Oakenshield may believe an army of orcs is pursuing him through stone halls while Clementine might dream of zombies.

During this time, the castle will seem somehow duller. Its stunning beauty noticeably damped to seem mundane, that spark of magic gone. It's very hard to miss.

On Feb. 27, the enemy plaguing the castle will be revealed with a chance for characters to defeat it. But the sleepwalkers won't be keeping quiet. It would seem to them as if everyone else save other affected ones are hostile enemies intent on harming something very precious from them, which is this enemy. The plot will conclude on March 2 with the much anticipated SOFT REBOOT in effect!

THE GIST: Your characters can either be affected and fight on the side of the enemy or remain unaffected, while still very drowsy and noticing how dull the castle seems, and fight against the enemy and affected characters. There will be a total of two IC mingle logs on Feb. 27 and March 2.

Are you starting to feel your new year's resolve waning, residents? The castle has just the cure. What better way to revive that special brand of annual optimism than to have another new year.

Ahead of the Lunar New Year, the castle will be decorating with lanterns, paper art and of course firecrackers. All in red. To get everyone in the right mood, anyone who fiddles with them will feel an urge to settle (and demand) all outstanding debt and grudges, be they material or more sentimental in nature. Did someone help you fix the microwave and you never returned the favor or did someone steal the last cookie and you never gave them a nice, big punch for it?

Well, the new year's the perfect time to clear the tab. For those fortunate guilt-free ones, the castle will be the one seeking repayment by making them clean and prettify their rooms until it sparkles. It sure helps that residents will feel compelled to set things right by any means possible.

This event will run from Jan. 27 to 31 and is opt-in, meaning characters can remain unaffected if they don't touch the decoration. An IC mingle post for the new year's eve party will go up on Jan. 30 but you're highly encouraged to make your own posts and logs!

THE GIST. Residents have three options: remain unaffected or, if they touch the decoration, be compelled to settle and repay debts to other residents or be compelled to clean and decorate their rooms as payment to the castle.

Hello Paradisa!

Some of you may have heard or noticed that there's a new plot up on our calendar. A short while ago, I joked that I would enjoy throwing one of the infected from The Last of Us into the castle to let it run free. To my pleasant surprise, this quickly became mod-approved reality.

During the evening of Jan. 20 (because it just has to be nighttime, right?) residents will encounter this cool dude just chillin' with its miserable existence. We call 'em bloaters.

The Simply Stepford Christmas Club!
December 15th - 21st



Ladies and gentlemen, we're going on a trip for Christmas. We're going to a world where men were men and women were cherished and lovely. We're going to a world of romance and beauty, of tuxedos and chiffon, a perfect world. Forget the overstressed, the overbooked and the under-loved; we'll turn back the clock to a time before overtime, before quality time, to a time that is simply perfect.

That place is Stepford, Connecticut. It's the 50s, sort of, with none of those yucky post-WW2 politics. We've taken off the grime, you see, all the ugly things, polished it right up good with some good old American Ivory soap and hot water. Don't worry about any of it, and you just focus on the glamorous parts: you live just like Bogie and Bacall, in a grand Center Hall Colonial house with all the new appliances, wardrobes of perfectly tailored clothes and dinner fit for a two-page spread in Good Housekeeping.

A perfect world, made even more perfect by Christmas. 



Picture it with me: carolers in the snow in red velvet cloaks, sleigh rides through the countryside, ice-skating in Town Square. New Christmas dresses, baking gingerbread cookies, stringing popcorn for the tree, and time with the family. The children tucked into bed, dreaming of when St. Nicholas will come…! 

You can have it all, ladies and gentlemen, right here in Stepford.


THE SKINNY VERSION:

You are now in an idealized 50s "Stepford" town. Old-fashioned Anytown, USA white suburbia. You are living in beautiful houses with a faux family-unit of your choosing. It's all very Christmas Greeting Card perfect.

Some of you might be really into the Stepford mindset and act like it's all normal, some might not. Some might become robotic Stepford Wives obsessed with cooking and cleaning or Stepford Husbands obsessed with manly pursuits. Feel free to have your characters fall into either role regardless of gender, it's all in good fun. Characters can be self-aware of their strange new fixations or they can be mindless drones. Have fun with it.

The town is also populated by NPC robotic Stepford Wives and Husbands  and Children who fit the ideals of their "time." The town has a mayor, emergency services and all the required elements to run it as a real city. They love their way of life and outrageous dissent will be pooh-poohed. Violence will get you arrested/locked up.

Everyone is human and depowered. Robots can be robot humans or kitchen appliances. Everyone is unarmed save what they can find. 

We are treating this like a group loss rather than fight/action plot. Since most people are busy during the holidays, we wanted to plan a very relaxed, fun plot for people to enjoy if they have the time or backtag at their leisure. You're more than welcome to come up with your own mini-dramas for your own storylines, but overall this is meant to be a very chill plot!

You may choose your own families/living arrangements, or you may leave it to chance! Feel free to use this post to put together your picture-perfect families. If you'd like to be randomly placed in a family, comment here!

The plot will run from 12:00 AM EST December 15th through 11:59 PM EST December 21st.

In another fit of boredom, the castle has seen fit to change things around. Having sent so many residents home recently, it doesn't quite make sense to keep all of the residents so spread out and isolated. How will they annoy each other if they hardly see each other? After all, it's a very big castle filled with many rooms. It's time to bring everyone back together again.

The Floor Map has been condensed a great deal, with the towers being cleared of residents and the many, many gaps being filled up nicely. What does this mean for your characters? It means that their rooms are no longer where they left them. Not to worry! All of their belongings inside are still exactly where they left them, and no furniture has been rearranged. The only thing that's different is the floor location.

As for the towers, they're currently emptied of all contents, and the stairwells that lead to them have been blocked off with "Under Construction" signs posted in front of them. If anyone manages to make it inside, they'll find that there isn't much to see. Any attempts to take up occupancy inside any of the towers will result in their belongings or any left items dumped in the middle of the lobby. Don't you know what "under construction" means?

But that's not all!

In addition to moving a majority of the rooms around, the castle has swapped out their nameplates.

As of midnight and for the next 24 hours, all nameplates will have the character's journal username in place of their given names. For example: Crowley's nameplate now reads "Only An Apple," Tim's nameplate reads "Dork Wonder," and so on and so forth.

And just to make things fun, the castle has placed everyone outside of the castle at the time of the change. Which is really unfortunate if you were taking a shower or in bed sleeping. Or not sleeping.


All nameplates will return to normal on November 4th, but the changes to the Floor Map will be permanent. If you'd like to swap rooms with anyone with their permission, you may do so, but the castle won't provide any help with it. Also, we will not be moving any characters into the empty floors at this time.
