ATTN: HEALER TYPES

Hey, Para people! This wiki page is looking a little sad. By sad, I mean that I have no idea OOCly or ICly who is running the clinic, or which characters are part of it.

So, two things:

Who is 'in charge' of the clinic, if anyone? If no one's maintaining the wiki page or clinic business ICly, I can volunteer to do it, or let someone else. Of course, I might have missed something important, but Tear did try to ping healer types for info and got no response. I might have not been the only one.

Which characters would be a part of the clinic? I understand it's mostly a handwave thing, but a little organization wouldn't hurt, especially if the clinic staff cooperates with the Peace Patrol. A definitive member list would help... uh, everybody.

I don't think anyone is managing it right now -- Sakura was, I believe.

Clinic types... I think we've got House, John Watson, and Peter Petrelli.

Robert Chase, too, I think.

Yep, House is very new, but he'll definitely be dividing his time between the castle's clinic and whatever hospitals/clinics/etc are in the city. While he could be head clinic honcho (he's going to act like he's the boss anyway), he shouldn't unless he's got several morality chains attached to him at all times.

OOCly, anyone know exactly what everything in the clinic is? A layout of the place? How many rooms, what types (lab, emergency, radiation, isolation, etc)? Do we have an X-ray machine, CT, ultrasound, MRI? If someone needs surgery, do we have the facility if not the necessary manpower ;; SOMEONE APP BADASS NURSES to wheel them into? If we need to induce therapeutic hypothermia on a patient with neurogenic fever, do we have what we need? No my studies are not showing, go away

I think most of those things have been hand-waved/ignored for the most part, because in the past we have always had just a HEAVY majority of "magic" healers who don't need that stuff. However, I think it'd be a great idea for the clinic to be set up to be modernized, anyway.

Invoking my knowledge of Paradisa history:

Supposedly it's just one big room with hospital beds and big stainless steel cabinets for everything. There's a giant mural of paradise, which seems to be the one static feature of the place. As far as I know it doesn't have any awesome machines (though they could be added for FREE, thanks CASTLE), BUT Simon Tam, once upon a time, delivered a bunch of things like x-ray machines and ultrasounds and whatever to some of the hospitals in the city, so that they would be a touch more modernized.

Someone should do a floor plan or something.

No, this is good stuff to know, since Rory is not a ~magical healer.

UM RORY IS A BADASS NURSE

I've threaded some nurse-y type stuff here before but I don't think any of it's actually taken place inside the clinic. D:

James Watson here and Helen Magnus both spend a lot of time in the clinic when not busy with other things (Helen spends more time in it recently than James). Sakura was heading it, then I think Ino is too. I don't know if Helen is willing too head it, James isn't as he keeps himself busy elsewhere, but he can help with cooperation with the PP if folks would like.

And no Alcy I don't know what we all have in the clinic :/

Duke.. has only been in the clinic because he has needed the help, but he's only got one magical healing type to offer.

... and he's less than interested in offering it to humans, so good luck getting the blind guy interested, if anyone wants a magic healer.

.. he's perfectly willing to pay attention to any animals that need healing...

It's kind of neat to have someone who WOULDN'T cater to human interests. I find a big problem with the clinic-in-general in Paradisa is that it caters first and foremost to humans. When you're playing with stuff like aspirin being lethal to Gallifreyans and other such non-human concerns, it's even kind of dangerous for non-humans to rely on the clinic. I mean, in the past, Clark always went to the Ninth Doctor, not the clinic, if he had a concern.

Having someone there for animals would be important, too, given that the nearest vet is in the city.

Over the long term if things go as I hope, Allen should be getting more involved with the clinic. He only knows first aid right now (from canon and then taught/given modern updates TWICE by the founder of the clinic, Isshin Kurosaki, and one of the Sakuras), but I am interested in having him learn much more over the long term as a nice way for him to give his save-everyone compulsions an outlet so he doesn't go stir crazy (Plus after five years, he's noticed that with 2342343 fighters around- we might need more people on heals).

It would be years before he'd be qualified to do it all on his own, but at least some of the doctor types would get an assistant to help out at least?

Oh and Zelos can heal pretty decently. But the clinic staff needs more babes before he'd agree to work there :|b

If I ever get my shit straight, Rory's going to be in the clinic more. He's a registered nurse in canon and can cater to humans and Gallifreyans, at least.

ATTN: CLINIC FLOOR PLAN

[identity profile] stateofatrophy.livejournal.com 2011-11-28 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
This is what I've come up with! It is not drawn to scale and I've already submitted it to the mods for approval. So now it's up to you guys to say yes/no/change this I don't like this how dare you not include this.

Image

An overview of each room starting counterclockwise from the bottom left:

1. Supply Closet. Think of it like one big walk-in closet. Emphasis on big. While there are numerous carts and drawers and such scattered throughout the clinic with supplies, this is where they all come from. Did I mention it's a really big walk-in closet? I feel like it needs emphasizing.

2. Patient Area. Edited version of clinic as it is now. Beds with curtains, lots of drawers with all the things one might need, a bathroom here and there. Think combination ER/ICU.

3. Blood bank. Located near the door for the vampire on the run. Inside it has both an area to donate blood and one to pick it up. Bon appétit.

4. Clinic rooms. Four of them for diagnostic/testing purposes when a closed door is preferable.

5. Surgery. Two operating rooms with attached recovery room. Your character has a compound fracture in their arm? Congratulations, they get surgery in the brand new, shiny OR and then get to spend a few hours recovering in private before being thrown back with the masses. 8D

6. Imaging. Big, big room (with warnings posted everywhere saying "CAUTION. RADIATION."), subdivided into rooms housing one of four of the most common imaging techniques. Inside each room is both the respective imaging machine and safe area for the technician and any observer.

7. Laboratory adjacent to radiography lab in order to run all those lovely tests. Stocked with centrifuge, microscopes, all that fun stuff. Also comes equipped with a furnace in order to be safely rid of all the biohazardous waste.

8. Supply closet. Another, much smaller one. Less for the patients (although it also carries bandages, alcohol wipes, etc) and more for the staff (test tubes, petri dishes, medical forms, etc).

9. Office/lounge. Houses both paperwork and entertainment for the staff. All the forms, books, articles, computer that may be necessary PLUS a wide-screen TV, a Wii, Game Boy and whatever else House decides to wish up for himself while he's bored out of his mind and avoiding patients. There is also a big table with seats for the clinic staff in case of any meetings, a dry-erase board, a kitchenette for those who don't like to wish for food and a King-size bed for the poor souls pulling the graveyard shift.

10. Isolation rooms. They do just what their name implies. Isolate. They can isolate the world from the patient or the patient from the world. Everything, from air to temperature to pressure, is regulated. These walls also happen to be reinforced (as are all the outside walls of the clinic). That way if somebody starts losing it for whatever reason, one option is to keep them in there while the fit passes. They have all they may need, plus 24-hr observation and medical assistance just outside the door. Obviously it's up to the player if they choose to go this route, but the option is there.

Any questions, comments? Going once. Going twice...!

Thanks for getting this organized. I tried to keep up with all the characters coming and going, but then I forgot who was still there and... yeah. More people organizing is great.

Also! I'm fairly sure Hesam is still helping in the clinic. Peter Petrelli is sort of a helper too, but since his loss is his medical knowledge, he's really more of a "run and help this injured person to the clinic" type :D
