Riful Plot: Amends & Proposals

Riful plot

Amends and changes! :) After working with the comments we received last post as well as chat in the following days there was a lot of helpful brainstorming! So taking everything mentioned into account I've tried to change and fix things to address all the concerns that came up and make a compromise that works for everyone--which is what you will see below the cut!

Even if you have no idea what's going on, who any of these Bad Guys are--we encourage you to take part♥ There should be something for everyone to do, no matter how small or how antisocial they are! If you're not sure what to do, there will hopefully be a planning post going up in a few days to help get the ball rolling as far as getting your guys in on things!

July:

By now residents have received a PSA from Allen Walker re: Riful mentioning his discussion with her during the Pirate Plot. This is the first of several steps by the heroes to get things going in a more earnest attempt to begin dealing with the resident villains. So this is one way to get involved--backtagging is always nice 8)

As for a proposed series of unfortunate events...

During this month heroes just do their thang--continue work toward whatever solutions and ideas they can think of! This means various prep-work on...whatever you guys want, really! :D Do hero things!

While heroes continue their work information it becomes apparent to them (via clues if you guys want, their own investigation, intuition--anything!) that the villains are up to something. They either stumble upon conversations, find something suspicious, catch a villain or two affiliated with Riful, have a Mole--anything! It tips them off that the villains are Up To Something and it's Big. So they start reacting and getting ready in whatever way works best. Preferably this sort of thing would go to people kind of on the edges of involvement with Riful who want to get involved but don't really have the hero CR/initial motive to get involved.

If you guys like the sound of this idea there is a bunch of stuff I have been preparing over the last few months for heroes to find, discover, or analyze! This will probably be it's own post in the ooc comm.

Riful & co. continue about their basic business as usual which will include contacting various people involved, collecting whatever supplies they need, meetings...and a little bit of mugging a certain red-haired Exorcist (Cross) so she exact revenge on a certain Beast Which Covets the Objects (Pharos). And of course there's the whole "getting Joshua his horns back". These events could serve as major tip-offs (Cross mid-July and Joshua/Pharos end of July) to the heroes that Riful's begun moving and that Shit Is Getting Reaaalllllll.

And with heroes starting to move a lot more in earnest it becomes inevitable that the Baddies realize something's up on the hero end of things--allies have been captured and it seems the heroes are Up To Something too! This is where Riful would possibly kidnap a select few residents in an attempt to get information from them on what's what with the heroes. Or even to get back at the heroes for taking some of her allies--and eye for an eye after all! It would be basic interrogation and being kidnapped; after all, she wouldn't want to provoke the heroes before she's ready.

Of course then she finds out that they ARE up to something and she's forced to speed up her plans. They're no longer exactly as she wants them; she's forced to act before all her pieces are lined up. Riful's assault becomes reactionary to the perceived threat of a coordinated effort by the residents of the castle rather than a meticulously planned invasion.

August 11th/12th:

Two ideas came up! One is that with damaged pride and insulted by the gall of heroes rising against her Riful publicly makes a "HDU YOU ARROGANT CHILDREN" before she announces open war on them and make her move, ooorrrrr..... The heroes begin their movements first, and upon seeing this Riful makes her HDU KIDS GET OFF MY LAWN speech and announces open war that way! This is where Riful will announce she has hostages/confirms heroes' suspicions she does/demands the release of captured villains/....stuff. We'll work that out here :)

Once all the warring starts Legato & Wilhelm will take control of the townspeople and turn them against the residents to delay them & cause some panic. Hank, Joshua & Arthas will join them as Arthas heads the army and Joshua acts as back-up to Legato (he will also be initiating the first "opt-out" upon arrival in town by freezing residents caught in town who don't want to be part of the destruction). Hank is the general muscle to keep uber-godmods busy, hopefully :) Although 40,000 combatants sounds daunting, they will be poorly-equipped for battle and distracting or engaging Legato will result in a loss of control over hundreds of townspeople at a time. The more he has to focus on his own surroundings the less he's able to control the townspeople.

Villains should be separated into their own sort of encounters eventually to give everyone a chance to get a piece of the action!

This also leaves Billy, Harley, Nikola & Tyki with hostages/kidnappees at the Lake Outpost on the Dead Zone side! This may be a good place for non-powered heroes or heroes willing to have their character weakened by the proximity to the Dead Zone to help even out fights.

Aside from battles there will be a handful of other things to do as well: first aid, healing, coordination, info-sharing, small response groups, ONE-MANNING, helping stop townspeople, fortifying the castle, taking care of children/rounding them all up--if you can think of it, do it! If this all works for you guys a planning post will go up within the next few days to help sort out everything for the next month and a bit or so :)

Villains & Battles:
There will be a planning & info post made closer to plot implementation that will list each villain, where they will generally tend to be, strengths, weaknesses, best offense, and permissions (death, capture, injure). Canon example of powers will be provided as well :) This is where we will try to coordinate who goes where and when! Just so we don't wind up lost and no one gets left out of any action.

Casualties:
Townspeople numbers should be small! As far as PCs go, that is up to each individual mun.

Consequences:
Entirely up to you guys! So long as they fall within the capture/kill/injure preferences of the individual muns you guys are free to have your heroes respond to their defeat however they please! I know there were suggestions for villain therapy down the road; maybe there could even be something like a huge "what do we do with these assholes" discussion amongst the residents! It's all up to you :>

Kidnappees: (sign-ups TBA)
  • No children
  • Must be cleared with CR (if not then it's an auto-out for the character)
  • Will not be harmed/killed

    Undead: (sign-ups TBA)
  • 4-6 max
  • No children
  • Must be cleared with CR (if not then it's an auto-out for the character)
  • Only 4/6 can be revived by Tia Dalma w/o the usual Death penalty (additional loss)
  • The other 2/6 must die permanently for a 2 week duration
  • Ghouls are mindless undead, Undead retain memories/individual thought but are forced to follow Arthas' will
  • Do not hunger for flesh, grow tired, feel pain
  • Further info will be provided if this flies

    Possible Opt-out:
  • Joshua "freezing" a character's time & turning them to stone
  • Emil's "Meduse gaze" turning them to stone
  • Evacuate to Flora's
  • Yuki Nagato "freezing" the time in a closed-off area

    Is there a possible set timeframe for the kidnappings?

    I'm asking because I have a major plot happening for Wes (and some of his canon and CR mates) from mid July to the end of July which is gonna be heavy for him and I just can't see myself having the energy to get him involved with this big Hero fight in August, because he's been through a lot these past few months. But ICly he WOULD get involved, but I'm just a bit exhausted right now and am looking for ways to give him a rest.

    So I was looking at having him kidnapped for once, but the timing might be a bit tight, I don't know. I guess I can freeze him if need be, but it might make a nice change to have him be one of the 'damsels' instead of an active hero.

    So, yeah, just wondering what the schedule will be for the kidnappings, just so I can figure out whether I can sign him up or not.

    Just a quickie!
    For the Evacuation opt-out, two things:

    A) When will this occur? During the time of the freeze, or is it simply the opting-out character's choice when they feel they should bail out?

    B) Will they be able to contact people outside the Safe zone via journals? Or are they just gonna be kinda in their own little camp?

    First I will say that if anyone missed that Allen post linked above, you can still comment to it and I will do my best to backtag. If that's not your cup of tea, I think...Alleyne is gonna do a post regarding Riful as well since she was like I AM ALLEYNE, HEAR ME ROAR. She is much better at delegating tasks ICly than Allen, so that's probably the place to go if you just want to get involved and don't care how. (atma if I am horribly wrong about this, please let me know)

    That being said, there are lot of ways to get involved on the heroes front in regards to preparation. We still need volunteers for the following stuff:

    1. INFO GATHERING: Talking about taking out a big bad is all well and good until you realize you have no idea how. Not to mention they still need to figure out that Riful has more allies than just Arthas and Legato. Maybe either your character can be actively seeking out info/spying or they could stumble across something by accident (like Riful's tentacle in the woods from her battle with Pharos this spring). This spot of course would require you to contact the villain muns to figure out what would be kosher to find out.

    2. CONSTRUCTION WORK: Consistently there has been talk of building a prison in the Dead Zone, both ICly and OOCly. However this does not build it by itself. If your character would dig spending some time in the Dead Zone getting sweaty and building a nice prison addition to maybe the Outpost - this is the spot for you! Great for characters that would love to get involved but aren't frontline fighters!

    3. RECRUITMENT: There are muns who would love to have their characters get involved, but due to their evil/neutral/lazy nature - they won't be responding to things like PP filters or they might need a bit of arm twisting to get them to do it. So we need heroic or nice people to convince them it's in their best interest to help out with this cause. This is ideal for the manipulative/persuasive characters or the ones with gigantic moe eyes (http://www.glogster.com/media/3/7/58/27/7582720.jpg).

    4. MEDICAL TRAINING/PREP: They plan to go face up against a big bad and not everyone is an anime character that heals from bandages. Not only are characters of the healing/medical persuasion really welcomed - but this is an awesome chance for your character to finally start learning first aid if there are any medical types that would be interested in training people to help out. They can be spending the next month learning how to help apply those bandages and stitches or whatever else you think is possible for your character to learn.

    5. FIGHT TRAINING: (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSS5dEeMX64) You guys are facing up against something big, you might need to brush up on your skills. Alternatively, you might want to teach your volunteers how to point the sword the right way. After all...Riful is plotting something...what if she decides to invade the castle? This is a great place for fighters who like to train others or those who would love to join in on the fighting- but definitely need all the training help they can get.

    6. WEAPON BUILDING: I know Anarin has mentioned York is planning on building really big guns in order to use against Riful. Other characters might want to create other weapons too to help give an edge against them. This is a perfect place for those crafty folks with ingenuity streaks. Grenades, big guns, catapults (?!), traps- anything your characters can come up with.

    Zelman might actually be able to help with recruiting some of those bad guys/neutral characters, being on that side of the spectrum himself. As soon as he figures out Pharos is missing? He'll start gathering up his resources and branching out for more ways to help make sure that Riful is taken care of.

    The only problem is that he himself is probably only going to communicate with a few people, because he hates most good guys. 8( ALLEN YOU MIGHT BE STUCK PLAYING MIDDLEMAN. But hopefully he can at least contribute to the party!

    So, I'm pretty interested in getting the Midnighter involved in this, and he sort of is. Buuuuut right now he'll still sort of fall under 3 (recruitment). He pays attention to what posts he can see, and he's currently keeping and eye out and whatnot, but he's still pretty much (and probably forever gonna be like) 'wow these guys are lame I'll just ignore them and do my own thing'. I'm looking to get him a little more actively involved (but not TOO much, he and I both just returned here. Also, his ability makes things tricky because of the. seeing every way the fight could possibly go thing so there's another reason why he can't be in the THICK of things), and I'll probably poke him into places where I think I can? But if anyone has any ideas that they wanna throw at me re: this, please do?

    Did any of that make sense? lsdkfdjg I'm kinda rushing.

    7. STRATEGIST: Is your character really good at making battle plans? At winning chess and thinking out great battle plans? We need all the help we can get with coming up with ideas of how to go about all this. Not to mention, discussions of how to feasibly make sure none of this stuff happens again.

    8. LEADERSHIP: I will say this outfront- Allen is a terrible leader and he knows it. Even if he made the first post, I have no intention of putting him any sort of leadership role because then you'd all die. So we need leader types to help things along. Alleyne has taken the first step and was given a list of people that Allen knows are capable leaders- but you can still get a spot. This is a huge operation- so even if you aren't the leader of the entire thing- there are spots that need help with leadership. Maybe you will lead the medic team, the cooking team, the dead zone construction, the people seeking out intelligence- think of it how an army has a General but many commanding officers under them to delegate different parts of it.

    9. SAFE ZONE MAKING: Are you worried about your friends who are no way fit to defend themselves? Maybe you should spend this time working on ways to ensure that they will be entirely safe- writing up evacuation plans or designing safe zones.

    There are probably more ways to get involved as well that I just can't think of. But this is a good starting point! If you can think of anything else, throw it up here too!

    The main thing that I have to emphasize is if you character can do something and ICly would think of? Please don't hope or assume that someone else will organize it. If anything, ask if it's being taken care of maybe through [livejournal.com profile] paradisawatch, and if it's not? Take the initiative, even if it's absolutely terrifying. If it's already happening? Please talk to the muns and work out a way to get your character involved. Other than the leadership one that should probably have a limited number- there's plenty of room for everyone and I would love to see as many characters get a chance to do something as possible.

    This is a team effort not just on the characters' part, but the muns part. I would very much love to see what everyone comes up with and not have to have just a couple muns sort things out. So it's time to shine guys! 8D

    Eleven will be all over the friggin' place, honestly, but as soon as he wakes up from his canonbump he'll be pushing for Code Blair even more than he was. Given that, he'll probably be trying to organize keeping kids out of the line of fire when shit hits the fan.

    Once that's squared away he'd be everywhere, if anyone has anything in particular you need a Time Lord for I'm all for throwing him around. He's not nearly as involved with the whole Riful thing as Five is, but he'd be especially pissed about Legato.

    1. Iffy: If you mean "interrogating", then yes, Alex is good at info gathering.

    2. N/A: Unfortunately, he knows zero about construction. He does know how to lift heavy stuff, though.

    3. N/A: Likewise, his people skills aren't good enough for that.

    4. N/A: Alex's host was a scientist, not a doctor. Saving lives wasn't on his priorities list.

    5. N/A: He only knows how to brawl and use modern firepower.

    6. N/A: No experience with that.

    7. N/A: Alex is more the "charge in and wreck things" type. He knows how to be stealthy, but eventually he always opts for force.

    8. N/A: Relates back to his TERRIBLE people skills. He's usually the one being directed by others.

    9. N/A: No real experience there, either.

    Alex probably works best as meat-shield/distraction/directed weapon. He's the type of guy you send in to keep someone like Riful busy, or try to corral her elsewhere.

    If anyone wants to get in contact with me by any means for involvement using Alley-Cat here, by all means do so! In addition to being all leadery and helping people get their shit together, she's also looking into helping a few she was told are going to have team building exercises (Sakura/Ino) and can also help with strategy and of course COMBAT INSTRUCTION. If you want her for any of these, come bap me on the head or nab her cape or whatever it is you cool kids do.

    Also, as she is pretty much a Badass Normal, if she needs to be added to Dead Zone fighting ranks, toss her in.

    I'll be making a recruitment post for Chimera after Felix's loss is over.

    While he didn't respond to Allen's entry, you can be sure he stalked it like whoa. In that spirit, I'll be including a filter to the Peace Patrol in regards to ways that he and the other magic-types can do to help.

    One thing I want to get cleared up ICly and OOCly is how effective magic will be against the various villains involved.

    This one here rather specializes in info-gathering, strategy, and leadership...and she's a pretty capable healer too.

    But I really don't want to volunteer her for a leadership position because I have no idea where my life will be in the next few months and I don't want to sign up for something and flake out. But ICly, even if not an official leader, she will be more than happy to help those who are. She's also not in the Peace Patrol at the moment, but would be willing to work with them and, actually, this could kick her into joining.

    And I know she has taken a particular interest in Legato anyway. So there's that.

    As far as those who are involved with the Patrol, there'll be another meeting next Tuesday, and I'll get a topic outline posted on [livejournal.com profile] paradisawatch within the next couple of days - rest assured that Riful is going to be very high on that list. I'll be doing as much leadership stuff as I possibly have energy for during all of this, myself, especially with Tony on vacation. There'll probably be Patrol recruitment going up, and once this stuff really kicks into gear, there will definitely be IC signups for people who want to help even if they don't want to join the Patrol. I just need to work out specifics on what we need from people first, which is part of the goal of the meeting.

    HEY GURL I was reading this over and there was one thing that stood out to me as a little bit of a concern from this side of the fence.

    Right now, the heroes possess the knowledge that Riful has been experimenting with people (including residents) to figure out how to perma-kill them. Once people start learning she's up to something more and people begin going missing -- do you think having them start to vanish a month before the plot event goes down is wise?

    From my perspective, it will be a MAJOR concern of the heroes if they think Riful might be responsible for the disappearances, because the natural conclusion would be that she might permanently kill them. This would urge them to speed up plans to go after her, and I can't see things staying in limbo until a month later (mid-July to mid-August?).

    Your thoughts? D:
