PLOT ROLL CALL

If you have

  • a character who witnessed an attack, or were themselves attacked by Rose during her temporary Loss
  • a character who is supernatural in origin (vampires, werewolves, witches, ghosts, etc.) to act as judge/jury for the case
  • a character who likes rubbernecking courtroom drama

then this plot is for you!

Cole's calling for a trial for Rose's Loss-induced attacks on the populace. This will probably take place in a few weeks depending on when it's convenient for Rose's mun and everyone else involved, (I'll update this!) If you sign up in this post assume Cole sent your character a judicial summons, which will mention specifically their expected role depending on what it is you want your character to be. (Though not obviously if they're on the defense team or witnesses for the defense).

We'll need 12 jury members and 1 judge, however many witnesses were present and want to testify (either for the defense or the prosecution), and if anyone wants to volunteer to be Rose's defense lawyer / team, etc.

Despite that Cole can be a bastard, he'll be playing it by the book and pushing for a verdict of aggravated assault against Rose. Rose's mun has said that she wants Rose to be acquitted and that's how the trial will go, but even if you think your character would vote guilty on the jury feel free to volunteer them, I'm told that Paradisa has no legal system (but that Iron Man's mun Paulie is working on setting one up?), so in lieu of anything else I'm assuming the jury can go as low as 9-3 not-guilty without a mistrial.

Also if I make any mistakes or if any of this is untrue for any reason, please tell me. I'm not a lawyer myself, I only play one on tv.

YES YES YES YES YES YES YES. Of course.

Please sign Piper up for a jury member! To see Cole in action? Might prove to her that he is actually trying to be good - and succeeding rather well! :D

IDK about the schedule thing since I have projects due in the next three weeks, but I'm free any time - I just have uni and work (plus projects) to do which might mean I might be a slow tagger/be backdating if the date is soon (or has a project scheduled on it). ;)

I can offer up Angel for a vampiric member of the jury ... but he will think this whole thing is ridiculous--possibly be very vocal about as much, and vote not guilty because she was under the influence of the castle and not in control of herself at the time.

Komachi here is a shinigami, and she works for the Judge of Hell so she might be interested in assisting the system as a member of the jury.

DID SOMEONE SAY COURTROOM DRAMA?

This girl rubbernecks at this kind of stuff for a living... and would be happy to assist whoever ends up as the defense attorney?

THIS ISN'T THE CHARACTER I WOULD BE VOLUNTEERING, BUT

What are you looking for in a judge? I have a certain someone (http://paradisa.wikia.com/wiki/Sylvanas_Windrunner) who is rather impartial, completely a supernatural type, who is an effective leader who takes no shit from no one and very well has experience in these matters...

This is a for maybe, though!

I LOVE this idea SO MUCH!

If none of the lawyer characters step up, Eleven would totally be all over defending her... even though he was nommed himself.

Otherwise, he'd go, but be a very VERY obnoxiously stubborn witness... Who would be trying to prove the case FROM THE WITNESS STAND. Darien was in the attack post, too. I gave permission for him to be nommed, but it never played out, I'd have to clarify with Rose!Mun on whether or not it happened.

I would offer any of the rest of mine for jurors... but they're all age 16 or under, so that probably wouldn't fly...

I love this. I was thinking about Wes being very similar, but he's been through so much plotwise lately, so I will leave it in your capable hands and just have Wes as another 'yes, I was nommed but it's just the castle' witnesses.

Damon will be in attendance lurking in a back corner. 8| Also he may be called as a witness since he was attacked and took her out with Wesley, keeping her locked up for the remainder of her loss so that she couldn't hurt anyone else. This may provide a defense of "so you felt she needed to be drugged and contained and controlled so that people wouldn't get hurt."

It sure is a good thing he never told anyone he was planning to kill her ...

It's on like Donkey Kong! X-D Love it!!

Though Marian will probably defending Rose as much as the Eleventh Doctor, who's a victim too! ;-D Going wild about fearing that she'd be punished and hurt etc. She might also question why Rose is being pursuited, when those who want to hunt her down seemed rather violent.

AND she'll also be all moved by Cole's good intentions, in the middle of it all! <3

I got a bit of an eye problem and am working like crazy, but I've been to the doc and work load will cease soon enough! :-D

Haha, totally going to get Nikola Tesla into this. While he himself is a vampire, he is trying to keep it a secret so he'll probably just show up as a vampire researcher.

You can put him on the jury or as a witness, since a)he knows Rose well, b)he was almost attacked by her and c)did I mention that he's researched vampires all his life? That being said, he'll totally be for the defense side, and don't be surprised if he acts all deadpan through the questioning.

[identity profile] duchess-archer.livejournal.com 2011-05-03 03:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooh, can I sign Archer up to be a juror? He will be super lazy and at least somewhat annoying, fair warning, so yeah.

<3

Paige will sit in the back and glare daggers at Cole. Will that help?

BUT.

This is something Larry would totally want to do, defend Rose, buuuuut...with his loss he can't argue in court. He could totally be a part of the defense team and just not....do the work in court?

I love this idea, I'll just have to see how things go for me. Work is about to make my life hell for a few weeks :/

Does a mutant count as supernatural? If so, I volunteer Jono for Jury Duty. He knows a few of the vampires around Paradisa, and knows how much losses can affect a person. Otherwise, he's completely impartial. He'd vote Not Guilty on account of the fact that Losses can affect a person's better judgement, to the point of overriding it.

[identity profile] inafadingcrown.livejournal.com 2011-05-03 05:36 pm (UTC)(link)
This is fabulous and I will be stalking with glee. Cole, I hope you fully expect this to be thrown back in your face if you ever go on a demon-related loss or something. Her thoughts, she will share them with you. Whether you like it or not.

I'd offer you an elf for the jury, but she'd actually be pretty terrible for the job. No respect for the system, man.

/walks in

/expects everyone to listen to her. voting, pfff
