While the staff highly encourages everyone to participate, only comment if you are capable of giving and taking potentially harsh concrit in a mature, level-headed manner. Assume good faith at all times. Crit is meant to be resolved, not "won". Give mutual respect for each other's work and ideas. Aggressiveness creates unproductive stress and conflict. If you are emotionally compromised, you ~~are not fit to captain the Starship Enterprise~~ need to step back, take a break, and then return when you're ready.

Anonymous commenting is ENABLED. Anonymity doesn't detract from the validity of concrit. An anonymous compliment is a compliment; an anonymous crit is still a crit. However, if you are going to post anonymously, consider it your obligation to follow up –– it is frustrating for muns to never get a reply back, and HMD should be first and foremost an ongoing discussion.

We have provided a form to post with, if you would like to use it. Mentioning things like canon points, permanent losses and recent major events in their lives in Paradisa may help give people a better idea of the character's mindset and current actions.

Alternatively, you may choose to post a link to your private HMD thread on the character's journal and take comments there instead. The first thread of this post will be reserved for those people, and we will freeze those comments. People will be expected to follow the link to the character's individual HMD to give crit there.

i think your spike's interactions with harmony are extremely out of character for him. yes, he can be and is often a prick to her in earlier seasons when he has no soul, but their dynamic in season five is a lot different. she's obviously still a ditz but it's very obvious that she is trying and he isn't an outright douchebag to her. there's sort of an understanding there that i feel you are missing the mark on entirely. i realize that your spike is pulled from after the fall, but the harmony in play here is from angel season five if i am remembering correctly. more than that she is genuinely making an effort to be a good person. this is something that angelmun recognized and had angel recognize when he arrived after only his first few interactions with harmony. i don't know if you or harmony's players don't get along or what the issue here is but i felt the need to point out that it reads very wrong to me.

I get along fine with Harmony's player, though I don't know her well. First of all, I have not had many threads with Harmony post-canon update, and I'm a bit fuzzy on which ones were or weren't, so I'm... sort of just guessing from how I would have him act here. In Season 5 Spike still treats Harmony like a moron. The second he's solid he basically seduces her into having sex with him even though he obviously doesn't want to start a relationship with him, even telling her not to talk so that she doesn't spoil the moment. He's a bit nicer to her in the following episode, telling her she matters to the girl who tried to frame her for murder, but besides that he mostly ignores or insults her. And as you mentioned, he's from after the fall, which is also after Harmony betrayed Team Angel despite her efforts to be a good person. It may have fed into Angel's plan, but it was still a betrayal, and still a pretty good reason for Spike to not make particularly nice. Yes, Harmony hasn't done it yet, but she's given him no reason to think that she won't. I'll also pull evidence from Season 8, even though it's after Spike's canon point, where he says she completely ruined Dancing with the Stars for him. So he clearly has not built up any warm fuzzies by then.

I have noticed a trend of people being, well, a lot nicer to Harmony than I've noticed anyone (besides maybe Lorne) being in canon. So maybe Spike just seems particularly hard in comparison? I don't know.

Wow. What a slap to the face of your entire cast. I have been lurking and watching these threads because I agree with just about everything that has been brought up, and I have to address the way that you appear to be passing the buck so to speak on just about all of the crit you've recieved up until now. Stop doing it. Take everything that has been said and change it, because your characters have major flaws that need fixing and it looks like everyone has been leaving you honest crit to try and help you overcome them. Don't blame anyone else, at the end of the day you write these characters. If I was part of the Buffy/Angel cast right now, I'd be smearing you on anon comm for trying to use us as a shield for your poor character choices. It's making you look bad so knock it off.

Okay, I will admit that the comment about the rest of the cast was probably out of line. It's possible that a lot of it comes from in game development that I've missed since I haven't been here as long as a lot of the Buffy cast. I did not mean to pin Spike's behavior towards her on any of them. Anyway, that wasn't meant to be the basis of my argument.

As for accepting crit, I'm going to work on the accent thing and the creeper thing and the tagging non-castmates thing and the... Anya in general thing. As far as Harmony goes, I don't think I'll be changing his attitude for now. I don't think anything else would be IC for him, though I will double check when I rewatch AtS S5.

I'm not understanding your refusal to change your stance on the Harmony issue. You said yourself that the reason other characters are so accepting toward her might have to do with CR that has been developed while they've been here. By drawing your line on the issue and saying that Spike stands here without allowing room for him to budge based on canon that you've provided boils down to saying this is the character in the series and he will not change by being here for nobody/no how. That makes for some really boring RP. Characters are supposed to change otherwise there is no development and they are stagnant. I can understand your beginning the relationship like that based off of given canon but there are a lot of people who are enemies in canon, but come to an understanding in the castle because of timeline differences and whatever reason.

It also is very strange to me that Spike expects to be given a second chance but won't extend the same courtesy even with a soul because Harmony *might* betray them or hasn't betrayed them yet or whatever his reasons are. Will he look at her as an equal? Probably not. He might even still try to use her to get what he wants. I think a big part of why he slept with her when he became corporeal was because he WAS corporeal and he knew he could get her to sleep with him. He hadn't been getting any as a ghost that whole time. I just want you to think about what you are saying because if everyone refused to budge on certain CR because it's canon, then things would be so dull and dynamics between characters would never change at all. That is part of the fun of playing a character.

You entirely misinterpreted my statement. Obviously, if IC interactions dictate that Spike change his feelings about Harmony he will be less mean to her. I won't change his attitude towards her for OOC reasons, but if the situation in game changes, of course his attitude would also change.

Adding on to what the above anon is saying it appears from an outsider's perspective that you are avoiding the character or her player for a reason. I see you stated that you have no problem with her but that you hardly know her. Maybe poking that person via IM or PM and getting to know them or plotting out some sort of development would help with this and possibly fix the issue that people are having with it entirely. This is just a suggestion of course but it might avoid any of what people are already misconstruing. Like it or not Harmony and Spike have canon CR and it is odd if they simply don't interact or never develop beyond what already transpires within the canon.

We're talking here. We're going to work on threading more. And the reason they haven't interacted much is because neither of them have such great feelings towards the other. But yes, they should talk more, and we'll both be working on it.
