PARANATURAL Plot Information & Signups

Dates
August 20th - 31st
Overview
Evil - or more of it, to be precise, is coming to Paradisa, in the form of a three pronged attack. In the world where these creatures are from, not many people know or believe that they exist, but they have all been known to wreak havoc, claiming many lives. The foes are very real - all of them have been seized unexpectedly, suddenly finding themselves being used as pawns to create chaos and discord by something much older and sinister than even the worst of them - Paradisa itself, as it twists and provokes their malevolent natures to its own end.
Lives will be systematically taken, but for the sake of playing with its food, the castle will be changing the rules this time around. Instead of being sent away, the souls of the deceased will remain in the castle, disembodied for at least one full day before being returned. This will of course come with a steep price that will debilitate them significantly, be it physically or emotionally, for no less than one week. After a slight learning curve, the disembodied spirits can still interact with those around them. Whether they choose to do so to resolve unfinished business or to exact revenge is up to their own free will. Vengeful spirits are more powerful, but a word of caution: Once a soul taps into the rage of vengeance, it's hard to come back and even harder to control.
In the world where these monsters come from, there are certain individuals who hunt and kill the things that go bump in the night. Though they are most often solitary people that live on the fringes of society, these hunters pass on the lore of how to track and eradicate monsters. They stockpile weapons for use against common threats and some even go traveling around looking for trouble. Paradisa has been home to a few of them from time to time, but unfortunately, none are current residents - though you might say they have friends - of sorts - currently shacking up within the castle walls. It's always hard to tell whether or not either of them will ever actually be of any help, though.
Plot Signups
If you would like to kill or maim your character, or offer them up to have their fate hanging in the balance dependent on the actions of their fellow residents, here's what the plot calls for:
[A]
Six (6) charterers to be killed over the course of 9 days by the biggest of the big bads , a primitive evil that Paradisa itself controls directly...somehow...
[B]
Around ten or so
[C]
Three (3) of said
[D]
Two (2) of which may or may not suffer the same fate -- Note: If you want to be part of this aspect of the plot, you have to sign up for the
[E]
Two (2) characters who suffer from massive amounts of guilt over past misdeeds (in their world and/or Paradisa) to be killed horrifically for their sins and
[F]
Two (2) more to suffer the same hallucinations (or are they?), paranoia, and guilt and possibly die, if no one stops her
[G]
Some Big Damn Heroes to save the day! The solution is obvious, right? Unlimited - and anyone can jump into what will be an open post on Day 10 (Friday 8/29 - but feel free to use this post for plotting shenanigans and forming groups of do-gooders! Who are totally going to help! Lots!
[H]
Late in the plot, there will be a knock-down-drag-out free-for-all fight, during which anyone can be killed or maimed. This will be another open post with NPC action. Death signups for this must still be mod-approved. Signups for maimings (no form necessary, just comment under the appropriate thread) are optional but encouraged. Those who signed up will be given priority for NPC interaction, though I will try to hit everyone on the open post at least briefly.
Signups are first come first serve, pending mod approval on temporary death losses. Feel free to sign up for up to two deaths per character, if you want. If the slots fill up, priority will be given to characters who haven't claimed a spot yet and duplicates may be offered an alternative slot for additional participation. This plot is also flexible numbers wise, so depending on how signups go this week, I can simply adjust the number of deaths up or down to match interest levels.
The cutoff for signups for options A-F will be Monday, August 18th. There is no cutoff for G. The cutoff for death signups for H will be Monday, August 25th.

Other Notes:
So how does this whole ghost thing work?
When your character's spirit returns to their body, they will wake up and recall their death, coming back to life, and everything in between. Characters' bodies will be waiting for them in bed in their rooms.
If you want your character to die and don't feel like playing with the ghost angle, it's perfectly fine to put your character in a coma in their room for 24 hours. They will wake up with a clear recollection of just having died and no knowledge that time has passed, having effectively lost a day.
To be clear: If a character is in play less than 24 hours after their death, it must be as a ghost, and in both cases, the onset of their temporary loss will be immediate, within moments of coming back to life.
As a ghost, characters will be able to exercise varying degrees of telekinesis, electromagnetic disturbance, and for the purposes of this plot can manifest anywhere in the castle or on the grounds, but they are bound to that area and may not cross into town.
The presence of a spirit will set off EMF and cannot pass through iron or salt. Theoretically, they can be dispatched to heaven or hell by burning their corresponding remains, but Paradisa isn't having any of that nonsense. Bodies of the deceased will simply not catch fire, no matter how creative or ambitious would-be hunters get. Not that your new ghostly neighbors would ever give you a reason to want to go and do a thing like that...
How are the temporary death losses determined?
If you sign up to die, on the form above you have been asked to provide two alternatives for a temporary loss that will hinder your character significantly - emotionally or physically. One will be chosen for you by the plot runner (Jay) via RNG, so make 'em both good!
These losses will endure it for at least week once they are brought back to life. Beyond the mandatory first 24 hours, you can take as long as you want with them as a ghost - a day, a few days, the duration of the plot. If they have not already, all characters will be brought back to life (a.k.a. their souls will once again inhabit their bodies). As of Midnight September 1st, and their loss will begin immediately. Some death losses will extend past the end date of the plot. This will not be affected by the event ending. Losses will last for at least a week regardless.
Why so vague?
The suspense is half the fun! I'm happy to answer questions about the mechanics of the event that I may have overlooked in my explanation, but my lips are sealed about the details beyond that. As the plot unfolds, there will be plenty of info given both IC and OOC about the creatures the residents are dealing with and how to pick them off. How much information is available ICly is up to the residents. Perhaps they would be wise to do their research.
When your death sign-ups are approved, you will be given additional information privately.
