De-hiatus and loss heads-up!
SO. Hi all!
This is my 'look she's off her meds again' post. It's going to be a couple of days to organize my de-hiatusing efforts, but I have definitely dropped down to a level in pain meds where thought is a renewed possibility!
Which means...hellooo I've missed you guys. I'm still so disappointed I zonked out right through pirate plot like that D:
But I bring with me Rose's first loss!
First thing's first, her loss will start Friday the 8th when she wakes and end Saturday the 16th when she wakes. So, essentially, one week. Why Friday? Because nothing happens on Sunday. Sunday is too boring for the end of a loss. I'm giving a two day heads-up because...I'll probably manage to forget if I wait until tomorrow, and what fun would be just springing it on the day of the loss?
Rose's loss this time is pret-ty straightforward. As some of you probably already know, back in January Rose had a bit of a surprise run in with the Tenth Doctor of the time which ended up with her having a few years of his memories making a roost in her head. It's been pretty rough for her sorting those out sometimes.
On Friday, with abit of a nudge from the castle, she's going to fail spectacularly. Possibly as a 'serves you right trying to get around a loss' measure.
Whatever the case, when she wakes up on Friday, Rose will believe she's the last surviving Time Lord, with a sketchy past and a string of eye candy companions. For the most part she'll be co-opting or reversing the Doctor's memories...which means she'll recognize any canon companions up to the Tenth Doctor's era, but also recognize other Doctors as companions.
Very competent companions who can apparently fly the TARDIS. It doesn't always make sense but then again when does her life ever? As far as she's concerned, her loss is her Time Lord body. The TARDIS is not her loss...it just didn't come with her because she wasn't in it at the time she arrived here. who even knows where her sonic screwdriver got to?
It is important to note here that Rose is still Rose. Her memories are adjusted now to reflect the Doctor's memories, but her core personality remains her own. While she might more easily (or less easily as the case may be) connect with someone right now because of her memories, if she wouldn't end up a friend with a person anyway she's not going to now. With companions, she'll co-opt the Doctor's memories of how she treated them previously in canon, and be inclined to follow up in that path...but she's not going to parrot the Doctor's feelings or opinions of them beyond that. (In example, she'll remember adventures with Jack and the reason why she was generally a jerk to him in the past, and work off of this as a base, but once she actually interacts with him end up as charmed as ever by him.)
Since she's not stealing castle-memories, in the case of future companions or companions from the castle, she'll treat them with the frame of reference of the Doctor...but it wouldn't be like flat out talking to Ten (which is where her memories end, she has none of Eleven. She'll assume he's another future companion.) Also, feelings she already has for people will carry over and just be included in her memories (such as her feelings for the Doctor translating into--well an inordinate amount of fondness for a future companion in the case of Eleventh Doctor.)
To avoid HORRIBLE CONFUSION, she'll still go by Rose even during the loss. She'll answer to 'Doctor', but it's just one name among many she's had, and right now she's into going by 'Rose'. Consider it a quirk of the loss.
She's not really likely to buy 'you're on a loss' explanations...she might just end up thinking she got turned into a girl in such a case, because, well...they're her only memories right now. After the loss ends, she'll retain the memories of the events of the week and all CR, but the extra details of the Doctor's life that will have made her believe she's the Doctor will be gone. (The memories initially dumped on her will remain, just not the things that made her think she was him.) Any particularly revealing conversations she may have involving bits of memory she wouldn't be privy to will be vague in her memory--she'll have the thrust of that CR, but not compromise the privacy of the Doctors. The point of the loss is not to be beneficial to her, after all.
Anyone who'd like to poke fun at her or prod at her or be a bit freaked out by her or...generally be confused in some way is welcome to pop by! Also if you have any more specific or...creative plot/CR ideas those would also be awesome and welcome all week long~
