HOME SWEET HOME
wrap-up!

So we're pretty much done le grande finale of the Christmas/New Years' plot –– feel free to backtag as much as you want/can/to your heart's desire. We just have one little problem to wrap up, which is the castle being, well... gone. And we can't have an RP about a magical castle sans castle, so that's why at midnight, the castle's going to restore everything...

Exactly to how it was on New Years' Eve, with every resident standing wherever they were when New Years ticked by. The town's the same way it was, too –– it's as if nothing ever happened. None of it. There's no sign that any of it ever happened, other than injuries and memories.

Which begs the question... was any of that... real?

So, in summary, as of midnight, just about everything in Paradisa is back to normal, castle and all. All the residents' personal things are exactly as they were left on New Years', untouched. Everything. (If you're insane, you can have your hangovers back.)

And then life goes on!

(Though we won't blame people if they don't want to stay in the castle tonight. Creepy!)

First of all: thank you all so much. You were all fantastic, and patient, and because of it, we had relatively few roadbumps and a whole ton of smooth sailing. Even though everyone's been busy and things have been hectic, it feels like everything's gone swimmingly and it certainly was a blast to see everyone play. Trust us when we say that we've had the time of our lives planning everything and putting it all in motion, and there are no words to describe how happy we are with how it's gone.

So that was a crazy/fun/insane/adjective month-and-a-bit. And after that, naturally, we need to know how we did for reference for future plots. What were your favourite parts? What was your least favourite? What would you like to see more of? Less of?

For the last week alone, we know we had problems with timeliness on emails and the usual confusion where some people don't know what's going on/have missed the loop. The emails were kind of cool for a change-up, but would you like to see that kind of plot method scrapped, or tried again in the future? It was certainly more labor-intensive on the mods' end, but it wasn't without its merits –– we got a LOT of IMs, emails and comments from people buzzing about how excited they were for it to be more of a surprise than plots usually are.

And thank you again for everything!

I have to ask the incredibly important question: DOES EVERYONE GET THEIR HANGOVERS AGAIN?

This was one of the more amazing plots I've had the opportunity to play in.

The best part, I found, was that you let the higher tier'd characters and whatnot, for the most part, kick back while still playing vital roles in this game, meanwhile the normal characters really did save the day and pull through.

It was an amazing change of pace, yet everyone was involved, and I was glad to watch as everything went down. Thank you guys for running such an amazing game, and I hope it goes on for as long as it has to. I don't think I could quit it. Ever.

Oh, man. This has been an epic mindscrew. I loved it, the whole time. And I definitely thought the emails were a nice way to change things up.

Muses are going to need some downtime to heal, though. Man, that was intense, and especially that one last parting shot.

I'll come back with better points and stuff when I've done some processing.

[identity profile] thosethatrun.livejournal.com 2010-01-10 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
... Are they going to have their New Years hangovers, too? D:

Ohwait. I should really read comments first.

We still have all injuries and memories from it, right? :o

I LOVED IT OKAY NO COMPLAINTS EVERRRR

[identity profile] thosethatrun.livejournal.com 2010-01-10 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
I loved every bit of it, from the suspense to the way things meshed together... everything! The using emails to plot was such a great idea and I am in awe at the amount of work you guys put into it.

YOU GUYS ARE FABULOUS. ♥♥♥

*stands up and applauds*

That was a blast and an awesome change of pace. Thank you guys for setting it up and putting so much work into and everything!

It would have been good to have the approximate timing of the revelation/climax post ahead of time, and I honestly don't know if I would have had York participate (on the Supers side, anyway) if I'd known how angtsy is was going to be for him. :O

But! I did enjoy it very much, especially the Normals group meeting and getting Raine to figure things out.

[identity profile] so-catless.livejournal.com 2010-01-10 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
Poor York, lol. I'm actually really glad he was over there.

Having Wybie as the Companion Cube's sole 'translator' was awesome. xD

Man, I know what you mean about the surprise angst. Deadpool's going to be dealing with the fallout from this for a while.

Though I'm a drama whore so I don't mind too much. >>

I didn't get to participate as much as I'd have liked (fffff, life and business ;;) but it was great.

A month of manipulation and plot twists, leading up to the entire castle being reduced to rubble? Most epic way to destroy the microwave ever!

But seriously, wow. This was amazing, you guys. I found it pretty demanding to have over a month of such closely packed events, though, and I only play one character! But it was a lot of effort for a really cool payoff. I'd suggest not having this intensive a plot during a time of year people are busy, except that that'd totally defeat the point of a Christmas plot, so, yeah.

And the E-mail execution was an interesting way to keep the mystery more ... mysterious. Would it be less labour-intensive to make filters on this com, maybe? To put out messages to different groups of players without needing to coordinate waves of E-mailing?

In general, you mods are all kinds of badass and I'll have to buy you a round sometime.

[identity profile] orgrimmar.livejournal.com 2010-01-10 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
Although I had immense fun playing creepy!Alice, this is me rocking the minority by saying this was definitely one of my least favorite plots I've played through, but I'll give you my honest input as to why.

I'll start off with the positive things though, which really had no complaints toward the mods' structure of the show. For one, email system? Great. Awesome. I liked how the plot was set up and how we were notified as to what was going to happen only if we fell in a certain group. I would definitely love to see this implemented more in the future, as it was something you guys really nailed to keep it fun and interesting. The only problem I see with that system is, of course, the fact that it really isn't much of a mystery when you got characters playing on both sides.

For something to have not revolved around the "usual suspects", those that were left did spend a lot of energy having their actions still revolve around those guys. Yeah, it was freaking weird, but still, in the end they were in the limelight. I was expecting like, crazy castle and they were going to fight something off, really. :P

This was one of those plots that I would have liked to see stretched out at least a few more days, in order to get he full effect of the indoctrination played out, and allow for maybe some CR gathering between both groups, such as supers living together or maybe random groups of normals splitting up to find clues and such (after all, with all the lists that were set up, it wouldn't have been too hard to say, "hey, attacker. go with stealth person and demolition expert and healer to do such and such, same with you other random group").

I don't have characters that would have cared what everyone was doing (lol Jun), but for me, it was kind of offsetting to have had wanton destruction as a solution rather than people working together to do something a bit more thought out and meaningful, but hey, now that I've seen how it was played out, I see where you guys were going with that. Admittedly, I was confused as all hell upon reading that this morning, but hey, what're you going to do.

With all my crit, I do keep in mind that, as you said, this was all beta testing, so it's understandable that there were some snags and kinks in it. Then again, I'm still in the minority here, so! There is that.

Agreeing a lot on your length point, and also the wanton destruction thing to some extent.

Well said, Ashreypants. :>

OF course I have the makes things complicated question -- BUT --

What does this do to their calendar? The whole going back to Jan 1 vs. being on Jan 11th? Or will the residents just rebel and be all, "Hell no Castle, it's the 11th!" instead?

Will the month just naturally accelerate and catch up to the current "date" so to speak?

> A bit longer, and I was also VERY confused this morning at the entire ... conclusions the residents came to. And the explosions and everything.

I AM GLAD I WAS NOT THE ONLY ONE. ;^; Because every other plot, even if I'm not around for it, I have no problem following it, but I was like, WTF this time.

This was my First Major Plotage, and I had such a great time! :D I agree with the comment earlier about how nice it was to have the 'power characters' take the backseat (while still being involved and vital) while the less empowered figured it out.

I would also agree that at least one or two more days would have been nice. :)

((btw, this is Captain Hammer's Mun))

[identity profile] preparedforthis.livejournal.com 2010-01-10 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
Man, complete castle destruction as your first major plot, I don't even know how anyone's going to top that. XD

[identity profile] hassan-q.livejournal.com 2010-01-10 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
I HAD A LOT OF FUN with the big conclusion and climax of the plot and I love the idea of using emails. I liked the suspense, even if I was ...sort of in the know with characters on both teams. I dig that you added surprise. I like that this plot is different and definitely isn't something the chars can easily ignore and go back to status quo after. It was really cool to see all the godmods taking a chill off in Shiny Happy People land while the lesser powered chars got to investigate. I agree about extending the climax a bit. To be honest, I felt like I was sort of twiddling my thumbs not sure what to post about for a lot of December because there were no new chars, no losses, but also not much happening. And then so much jam packed into these few days it's hard to keep up. I understand that the overall set up was to accommodate people who couldn't be around in December (I know I was busy!) though. With all of the large mod posts, I almost felt hesitant about making any character posts. I didn't want to make conclusions because it seemed like the mods had preselected chars to make discoveries.

As for the finale, wanton destruction is great if you have robots, ships, and magic powers. It is pretty cool to see all of the characters just TRASH the castle. Will the castle retaliate? From trying to figure out conclusions to actually taking down the castle itself, it was still a plot for people who come from magical worlds or have robots. XD; My characters were still ...pretty useless, having come from pretty normal Earths. Since conclusions had to be drawn quickly, it kind of felt guided by one or two people. But I get the time crunch affects things a lot.

Of course everything I say is just my personal reaction to it and isn't representative of anyone else or even saying that changes must be made (I get that this was totally a trial run!). Overall I had a lot of fun with it and I'd like to see more suspenseful plots in the future! :3 GREAT JOB PUTTING EVERYTHING TOGETHER MODS! &hearts

[identity profile] anzu-less.livejournal.com 2010-01-10 07:05 am (UTC)(link)
I loooooved this plot :3 seeing such lovely crit posts, I'll try to give something semi-useful back ♥

+ I loved the email system. The only problem I have with it is the fact that they were sent to so many people. Because I was playing characters on both sides I pretty much knew what was going to happen on both sides most of the way through. I think this system would work so so so well in stuff like the Dead Space plot. For example, asking for volunteers, and then emailing how they were going to be indoctrinated by the rock. Just vaguely let everyone else know something is going to happen, have a list of backup people just in case someone gets the instructions and responds with 'I want out'. Then let them do their thing, and everyone else will be seriously freaked up/surprised :3 it could be used in so many different ways, and it was a great idea! I'm so excited to see it in the future.

+ Mind control/indoctrination stuff :3 I loved it in the Dead Space plot, and I loooooved to see it here. I find something about it just so creepy and so... awesome :D personally, I'd love to see it in other plots (obviously not overdone, but just so you know)

+ The concept of supers and normals, combined with the open posts. In particular the Normal's planning post. There was so much thread hopping, jumping in, jumping out, characters striking up conversation... it was just so exciting to be a part of. The more of these, the better.

- Like a lot of people, I would have loved for the zombified supers part to go longer. There were a lot of theories, and like a lot of people, I was confused this morning when I woke up. Still, it was an awesome conclusion.

Anyway, if I think of more, I'll post it, but that's all I've got for now ♥ awesome job Muns, this was awesome!

[identity profile] stars-fell.livejournal.com 2010-01-10 09:28 am (UTC)(link)
It was awesome getting e-mails from John F Kennedy! :D :D :D

I think my only crit is that I also would have wished the indoctrination period to last longer, as the end plot period felt a little rushed (and also because I'm a tard who sleeps too much because she can and, therefore, slept through a lot of it).

[identity profile] onlyanapple.livejournal.com 2010-01-10 12:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Now that it's not stupid o clock;

I agree that more time could have been used for the finale. It felt to me that the build-up dragged a bit too long, that said it was during a holiday period, so it's not like this could have happened slap bang in the middle of people's holidays.

Something I have to say is I LOVE that there were mass posts at varying times in the day. Usually, I have to just tack my characters on the end of these, because they happen far too late for me to participate in when they happen, and as I result I lose the chance to play around in them much. This time, though, I got to stick my charters into more mass posts than I have since Dead Space, I'd love it if we had plots with mass posts like that in the future :D
