September 1st - September 8th
a joint plot between the mods and helpers
At midnight, a heavy sort of sleepiness falls over the castle; everyone, no matter how immune they are to sleep, no matter how little they sleep (if at all), is compelled to sleep, even if just for a few minutes. Everyone dreams, and upon waking, the dreams stay alive in the castle.
The entire castle is transformed, but only in the rooms. There are no doors anymore; all bedrooms are open and exposed, and they aren’t really bedrooms anymore. Within each resident’s room is whatever they dreamed about that night.
You know how you have dreams, and they sort of relate to your day, or something you thought about that day? Or how they might be completely random and cracky and senseless? This is about those dreams staying with you when you wake up. You wake up in your dream.
But there’s a catch: you don’t have to stay there. You can leave it, go into the hall, and wander into the next person’s dream. There are no doors anymore, no borders, no barriers.
The castle will essentially become a great big open house of character’s personal worlds, be it serious -- a dream about reuniting with a lost loved one -- or scary -- a dream of being trapped by your worst fear -- or just plain silly -- finding a republic of banana men in your freezer after a long hard day of work at the highlighter factory. People from Paradisa or from home can appear in your dreams as holograms, like movies, with repetitive dialogue, almost non-responsive to anyone who interacts with them. As Paradisa is self-contained infinity, each dream can be the size of a telephone box -- nightmare of being stuck in one? -- or as big as an entire world -- a dream of exploring and flying.
If you are not comfortable with your character’s dreams being so public, just go for something silly and impersonal. It can even be a big black or white void.
This plot is basically a big way of introducing CR. Characters can meet and bond while wandering in and out of other people’s dreams, they can sympathize or laugh over nightmares, angst over the sad stuff, and laugh and party in the crack worlds. Maybe they can explore a friend's world, or fight their friend's enemies. There should be a little something for everyone, and if there isn’t, create your own something in your own dream.
Dreams have a habit of changing, too, or taking sudden twists. If you get bored of your dream, at any point during the week, simply have it evolve and change, suddenly. Keep seeing a montage of your parents being stabbed by a masked man? Suddenly, a herd of elephants tramples the murderer before he can get to your parents, and your parents spend the rest of your dream building an aeroplane!
Please post your characters’ dreams, and start plotting!
Q&A
Where are people sleeping if their rooms are now crazy?
The ballroom now has a huge sign over it that says "SLEEPOVER PARTY" Inside, there are piles of sleeping bags, and there are blow-up mattresses. There are also clouds that float around the room. If you can get on one, they make the best beds you've ever slept on.
Also, unlimited girly magazines, cookie dough ice cream and televisions playing romantic comedies. Copious amounts of make-up in case anyone wants to do make-overs. Because this is a ~*~sleepover~*~.
What if a character doesn't live in the castle/shares a room?
All residents are moved back to their rooms as designated by the floor plan. Anyone sharing rooms can opt to have individual dreams or joint dreams.
Will the characters who enter another person's dream see the dream as a participant, a spectator, or the dreamer?
Your choice/up to discussion with the owner of the dream! Dreams are very flexible.
