Has anyone noticed the duck pond?

The ducks have fled, migrated to somewhere warmer maybe, and the placid water replaced by a raging whirlpool that reaches to the depths of the pond. But look, in the eye of it, the most beautiful thing you have ever laid eyes on: a crystal spiral turning and turning most gracefully.

The still point of the turning world. What will you do, Paradisa? Kneel by the pond and worship it, run as far away as you can, DESTROY IT?

Please keep this last log to one thread for continuity's sake. There will be no NPC and the crystal spiral is just that, crystal, and can be destroyed as long as one can reach to the bottom of the duck pond. Everything goes back to normal once that's done and the castle will fix itself and the grounds in due time. The PREVIOUS LOG is still open for other shenanigans not involving the crystal spiral.

April 15
How much worse can it get? Whirlwinds are ravaging the castle and surrounding areas, residents are driven to near madness with their obsession or horror of spirals, with some willingly harming themselves to show their devotion to the Great Spiral.

Now the castle begins showing SIMILAR SYMPTOMS, first with millions of spirals looping endlessly on the walls while staircases and towers morph to form a vortex. The hallways seem to go in circles and grow smaller and smaller the farther along one walks, until one must crawl to keep on.

Think you can turn back? Well, going the other way will eventually lead you toward the shrinking center too.

April 11
Now it begins. Residents will wake up to find themselves either mesmerized or frightened by their own spiraling fingertips, the snails climbing up their windows tiny whirlpools in your glass of water or even the clouds, which somehow seem to move in a circular motion to resemble, yes, a vortex.

On April 13, tornados will begin descending from the skies to the amazement or horror of residents. Affected characters will be compelled to take their obsession one step further, contorting their bodies to become human snails, twisting their hairs to form near-sentient spirals, seeking out the tornadoes despite the danger or perhaps sanding off their fingerprints out of fear instead. There's no middle ground.

There will be another OOC post and an accompanying IC mingle post on April 15 when even the castle succumbs to the great spiral.

April 11-17
There's another plague coming, Paradisa. Starting April 11, the castle and surrounding areas will be infested by spirals. They're everywhere once you look for them: circular staircases, looping clouds, hordes of snails, even your own fingerprints.

To those affected, they will seem most beautiful, taking the place of their greatest desire (or their greatest fear). Is your character vain? Perhaps contorting their bodies into a spiral becomes their beauty ideal. Is your character ambitious? Then commanding tornadoes must be their greatest achievement yet. For more ideas, check out the inspiration. Is your character shy? Then perhaps growing a coiled snail shell is what they'll do.

Don't watch if you have epilepsy!
Growing shells? Well, why not. What starts out as noticing more spirals everywhere will worsen to residents being compelled to embody spirals starting from April 13, coupled with tornadoes descending from the clouds. Everything is possible in a castle that grants all wishes. A few days later, even the castle will seem to morph into one giant spiral intent on dragging along all its residents.

THE GIST: Your characters can be affected and become more and more obsessed with spirals or excessively frightened (sanding off your own fingertips, anyone?) as the days go by. This event is castle-wide, though your characters can opt-out by remaining in their rooms and staying neither obsessed nor horrified by spirals. This doesn't exclude them from the final IC log on April 17 to stop (or aid) the spirals from engulfing Paradisa. There will be two IC mingle logs, that final one and another on April 15.
