As you know, as of midnight today (Saturday, the 28th) all of the residents voices were returned. But what was the outcome? Was it a good ending or a bad ending?

I'm happy to report that the castle reached the good ending! The Gentlemen were stopped before they could collect all seven hearts.

Sheena, Brock, Alex, and Duke had their hearts removed, but they will return in two weeks. Three additional residents were spared. Hooray!

I hope you had fun with this plot! If you still wish to backtag the finale post or any encounters with the Gentlemen, you are more than welcome to do so. Additionally, we're always looking for ways to improve our plots, so if you have any feedback, it'd be greatly appreciated!

Once again, a big thank you to our now former player Yuff for putting this plot together before she left. Thanks, Yuff!

Today is the day to end it all. The Gentlemen have been holed up in an old clock tower in the city. This is also where they have been keeping everyone's voices! Go get them! A post will go up in the evening hours setting up the final confrontation, which anyone is free to join!

Unless you're dead. Then you can't join.

If you'd rather not be at the final showdown to get your voices, characters are free to still hide out, run or face the Gentlemen who are still seeking for the last hearts. Same rules from the previous night apply, at least until the clock tower team finds a way to get your voices back.

The Death Count on this day and the showdown will all depend on how well characters work together. If you guys perform fantastically, there's a chance no more people will die and you'll get to destroy the Gentlemen! If you fail utterly, more people will die and the Gentleman will leave Paradisa undefeated.

Either way, by the end of the night the Gentlemen will be gone one way or another, and voices will return at the latest by 12:01am EST.

Dashing this off quick before I go to work, but... since we have a good deal of people using the library for shelter now, would anyone like a catch-all library log post? We could use it for the rest of the plot, and it might help keep things organized. Someone has to find that book, after all!

If there's interest, I can try to put it up myself on my lunch break (or someone else with more free time is welcome to do it), I just thought I'd put the idea out there, since I doubt we all have each other on Plurk.

Got a good look at the Gentlemen? You psychic people remembering your dream? Good. It's time to hit the library. Since Paradisa carries a copy of every book in the world, residents should be able to find a red covered book of Fairy Tales that will cover the Gentlemen. Along with the nursery rhyme, will tell this general story now redone in bullet points:

► The Gentlemen feed on hearts. Every few years they require seven to survive.
► They traveled to a town and stole everyone's voices
► They then proceed to cut out the hearts of seven victims.
► No sword or weapon were able to kill the Gentlemen
► However there was a princess who screamed once with her real voice, and all the Gentlemen died.

Once the book is found, people are free to discuss (write) possible plans for stopping the Gentlemen and finding a way to get their voices back. Attempts to find their hideout via superpowers will still not work due to castle blockage. Residents can try, but attempts to play music, recordings or things mimicking human voices will not work against them.

And by the end of the night, the THIRD DEATH shall occur.

If you wish to have your character to be the one to find the book, please comment here to volunteer!

By now, the first body should have been discovered. From examining the body and crime scene area, you can conclude the person was pinned down and their heart cut out with small surgical scalpel. There is also zero attempt to hide or cover up the murder.

Of course with people being murdered now, people might be getting a little freaked out. Characters are free to do whatever means necessary to protect themselves: travel in groups, form safe zones, patrol the halls, sacrifice goats for good luck- whatever makes you feel safe!

During the day, the Gentlemen will be nowhere to be found. Any magical attempt to track them at this point will fail. Sorry guys, castle's a jerk.

At night some are free to catch a glimpse of the Gentlemen silently gliding by, browsing each room and being nitpicky about who they choose. They also have henchmen jumping around in strait jackets who may attack you (watch out, they're strong). Any attempts to fight them will fail since they cannot be killed by any current means you have, and they will be gone not long after you go after them or try to write for help. By the end of the night, the SECOND DEATH will have occurred in the same manner as the first.

As of Midnight US Eastern Time, or whenever your character wakes- they will be completely without a voice. It's likes their voice box has just decided to shut down. No matter how hard they try, they cannot speak or even make a vocal sound. If anyone checks out the city, you'll find the townspeople are having the exact same problem and are incredibly upset by this. It's like the entire infrastructure of the city has shut down because they cannot figure out how to function without a voice.

Feel free to communicate by any creative means- writing, telepathy, computer automated voice, charades- but anything with a real voice is out.

After dark of this day, the FIRST DEATH will occur. There should be a post later with the first victim's death, so watch out for that!

This is a normal day for most residents! Nothing will be out of the ordinary at the castle or the city, so enjoy this last day of normalcy before things get freaky.

However, if you have a character who is proned to have prophetic dreams or visions? At some point during a nap or when you go to bed, you may experience a dream. The dream will start out normal, you spending time with someone you consider important in whatever comfortable manner you choose, but at some point you will start to hear a girl singing this little nursery rhyme:

Can't even shout, can't even cry
The Gentlemen are coming by.
Looking in windows, knocking on doors,
They need to take seven and they might take yours.
Can't call to mom, can't say a word,
You're gonna die screaming but you won't be heard.

Audio Version

They may hear the entire thing, or simply a snippet of it. If they investigate the girl, it appears to be a normal young girl holding a box. When the song is finished, your character may see a flash of one of these dudes standing next to them, before they wake up.

How much the character sees or remembers is entirely up to you! Have fun!

If you are interested in having your character be killed by The Gentlemen during the course of this plot, please sign up here! There are up to 5 definite death slots, with the 6th being tentative based on IC actions.

Signs up will be open until Saturday, September 21st at 11:59pm EST. All comments will be screened for surprise value. If there are more than six volunteers, selection will be chosen via lottery using RNG. If you are slotted to die this plot, you will be contacted on Sunday. Same goes if you are not selected. From there, it'd be up to you if you reveal your character's untimely demise early or keep it a surprise.

Death in this plot will work as normal. You will return in two weeks with an additional loss. If selected, you'll need to have your additional loss mod approved.

As a reminder for victim selection:

► Victims must have an organic heart. Sorry robots/spirits!
► No people with heart conditions either. The Gentlemen like nice healthy hearts for donations.

IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMEND IF YOU WISH TO KILL YOUR CHARACTER, THAT YOU CHECK WITH YOUR CLOSE CR AND CASTMATES FIRST. There is no rule that you absolutely need to do this, but seriously- it's considerate and not that hard.

Please fill out the following:

Thank you!

Can't Even Scream, Can't Even Cry
The Gentlemen are Coming By

SEPTEMBER 23RD - SEPTEMBER 27TH

On the final week of September, Paradisa will be getting some visitors. As you see, every few years there are a group of demons called The Gentlemen that require hearts to sustain themselves. While in the past they've hit up towns on Earth, this time they have picked Cair Paradisa as their feeding ground.

Based on the episode "Hush" from Buffy the Vampire Slayer (trailer), this is a horror plot that will result in deaths. As they are staying at the castle, all powers and everyone will remain the form they are, but with one exception:

As of September 24th, every character in the castle and city will lose their voice.

That's right, the Gentlemen have this nasty ability to take away the voices of an entire area so they can do what they want without anyone screaming for help. This means characters will have to use other means to communicate such as writing, sign language, Morse code, telepathy, Stephen Hawking's type computer synthesized voices, drawings, etc until they find a way to get their voices back.

In the meantime, each night the Gentlemen will be murdering people. Depending on characters' performance in the plot, anywhere from 5 to 7 people will die. Yes, that's right, it's completely possible for the characters to reduce the number of people who could get killed if they act diligently and work together well (as in getting people to safe zones, researching the gentlemen, organizing a take down, taking them down, etc). On the flip side, if characters don't work together then all 7 people will die and the Gentlemen will leave town victorious. Which you guys don't want that right?

If you are interested in killing your character, sign ups are HERE. There are six total slots for deaths and to remain fair if there are more than six volunteers they will be selected by a RNG lottery. A lottery in which the winner gets death. For the nature of the plot, victims MUST have a relatively healthy heart. Sign-ups will be open until Saturday, September 21st at 11:59pm EST

Feel free to use this post for any planning or questions! And a SUPER HUGE thank you to Yuff who put together the entire plot!
