+1 Mirkwood Border Guard!
I should stop goofing around and get on with my intro Hi, Paradisa! I'm Kay, and I've actually played here before as Daenerys Targaryen from ASOIAF, but this time I'm bringing the character Tauriel, from The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. She will be strictly movie-verse, as she doesn't appear in Tolkien's novels, so it means she will have some adjusting to do with respect to her castmates - but she's quite persistent! (Silvan elves, man.)

obligatory L'oreal pose.
In short, in the movie-verse Tauriel is the Captain of the Border Guards of the Realm of Mirkwood, which is a dark, dangerous forest and home to the Wood Elves, ruled by Thranduil as their King. She spends her time clearing nests of the enormous and malicious spiders that have taken over much of the forest, as accurately depicted in this Lego re-creation of events:

Fili and Kili are just hangin' out, supposedly.
While she is a capable and brave fighter, and loyal to her people, Tauriel is also very independent and defiant - to the point where she contradicts her King, Thranduil, with respect to his policies and then outright disobeys him when he orders the gates of the kingdom sealed and none are to come or leave.
Remember Arwen, of Rivendell? Beautiful, gracious, elegant Arwen?

Yeahhh, Tauriel's not so gracious. Or elegant, for that matter.

But she is willing to try to prove herself, and has shown that she feels compelled to do do what she believes in her heart is the right thing to do, whether it is befriending Dwarves or leaving the Realm against her King's wishes to track a party of Orcs. She most likely doesn't make the wisest decisions, but they come from an innate sense of justice on her part.

8D but no really I am excited! Should I put up a log, or a journal post?
no subject
ISN'T THAT THE SAME THING?Either one! People do both, usually depending on whether or not their character would say anything over the journal at first. haha.

IT WILL MOST LIKELY BE ;~;a journal post would be kind of hilarious but then it would mostly be Galadriel, Thranduil and Legolas just going ... "Who?" XD

...like an Elven Top Gun training thing, idk
...
okay you realize this means they need to have a competition of some sort!!!

What are your thoughts on movieverse Legolas and Thranduil and how skilled they are
no subject
I mean, Legolas and Tauriel seem fairly evenly matched battle-wise, especially with the longbow, but I would imagine Thranduil is much deadlier with a sword/daggers?
no subject
I tend to assume that Thranduil is best with the sword, which he's skilled with to the point where he's nearly impossible to beat except with like, being profoundly outnumbered, and that while not quite as skilled with a bow or daggers he's very difficult to beat. With just about everything else the skill level varies but it's not as high as it is with those. Tracy and I agree that Legolas's weapons are bow and daggers, and that Thranduil is bbbbasically the only person who can routinely actually beat him with either.

I'd like to think that Tauriel could best Legolas with the bow on occasion, if only because his eyesight in paradisa isn't as keen as it normally would be, but at the very least it would be a close match, I would think!
Also Legolas might be more agile than Tauriel is, and Thranduil might be as well, so there's that. But I know for certain that she's likely never picked up a sword.

Her advantage against him here is that he doesn't have his bow, and hadn't made a new one yet, so he's stuck using an unfamiliar and less accurate bow from the castle.
no subject
Yeah, Legolas will definitely be at a disadvantage with a bow here in Paradisa but he still has the benefit of the bow Gladdy gave him.

the only way to tell is a competition!!!!
obviously when he's done being bittyEDIT: the only fair option would be to have everyone compete with the galadhrim bow. right?? XD
