Rumor has it Piero de' Medici, the de facto ruler of the Republic of Florence, has fled the city in tatters after Fra Savonarola took all his gold and silk.

With how enthusiastic his followers have been in robbing the city, it's little wonder the mountain of treasures in the town square has grown so colossal. It is time, so the friar has said and his Piagnoni repeat in the streets come Nov. 13. In the wee hours of the morning, the crowd will have gathered about the pile in anticipation of THE GREAT BONFIRE. Those captured have been taken out and tied to wooden stakes erected among the vanities. Now is your last chance to save them.
