Looks like yet another new character!

Introducing Gwendolyn, a Valkyrie Princess hailing from the (gorgeous) PS2 game Odin Sphere (also available on the psn for your ps3). It's a little bit of a Shakespearian drama, based loosely on Norse Mythology and a couple of fairy tales, and is told in the format of Chapters and Acts like a play, as a little girl reads through all the story books in her attic.

The game consists of five main playable characters whose stories you play through and watch intertwine. Gwendolyn here is the star of your very first book in the game, "Valkyrie". She hails from Ragnanival, a strong military kingdom constantly at war, and is the daughter of Odin himself. She is a very strong warrior whose story essentially consists of her making problems go away by hitting them. That doesn't mean she's perfect though! She's extremely broken and comes with a plethora of issues and insecurities BECAUSE WOW HEY GUYS DID YOU KNOW ODIN IS KIND OF A DICK?? Wow who could have guessed that treating your daughter as only a tool for war and politics and never showing her any kind of affection would cause this sort of thing to pop up??

Her canon point is about midway through her story, after her father puts her into a deep sleep as punishment for breaking the law, stripped of her honor as a warrior and to be wed to whoever awakens her. Remember the fairy tale thing I mentioned? Yeah, Gwendolyn is essentially Sleeping Beauty, hence her current confusion. (To be even more specific, she is the Brunhilde to her husband-to-be's Siegfried) What caused her to be banished and punished like this is a little complicated, and don't expect her to talk about it any time soon. Her loss is the memory of how she obtained her special spear. The spear is not with her right now, but it was given to her by her late sister Griselda, as she laid dying in her arms.
