Question about the Masquerade Post:

So, the post has gone past 3k in comments, and I'm pretty sure it's going to keep rising. I'm already having loading lagging with it, and I'm wondering if maybe a second post shouldn't be put up? Maybe with the same people who did the top-tier posts just continuing with a link to the previous post?

I know that posts that exceed 3k can cause issues for the site, as well as potentially break, and I'd hate to see such an active post be inaccessible to people who want to play it.

currently the person who was running the plot isn't here, i think? so you might want to ask the mods about doing an overflow post for that initial post or something along those lines??

well it was a player run plot, so they weren't really involved in it.

tagging into it isn't really the same as running it. the mods had no hand in actually RUNNING the plot, that was left for the player.

yeah i think everyone has noticed it honestly. but they're as busy as the rest of us and so forth. not to mention being the whole not being their plot, there could be a fear of stepping on toes? i don't know. i just think this should be brought to them as a suggestion or something.

I'll wager they haven't done it because no one has asked/there hasn't been demand... it has nothing to do with stepping on toes, we've done plenty of overflow posts in the past.

Plurk is not generally an official channel to get mods' attention. While they will answer if they happen to see it or get directly asked, many people on Plurk have upwards of 50+ people on their timeline... it's very easy for things to get lost, especially if one isn't pinged, and mods are not on Plurk to field everyone's every comment or though. Additionally, not everyone deals with lag. Personally, I haven't noticed the slightest bit of lag on the post, and I frequently skim plurks/don't read comments... if I hadn't seen this post, I wouldn't have known!

For future reference, the most effective way to "get things done" is contact the moderators directly, regardless of what the concern is. Email, AIM, pinging them on plurk, PM, etc. Doing that isn't poking or pestering them, it's making them aware of a concern and asking them to address it. You would not be out of line by doing that. :)
