HOW'S THE GAME?
It's been awhile! It's time for another round of Game Discussion, also known as "How's The Game?"
Here we come together to discuss the game, its plots, the settings, and just about anything we can think of that we'd like to talk about, expand upon, improve, change, etc.
This is not an HMD for players and their characters; this should be about the game's function as a whole and not the people in it. If there is something you feel is absolutely necessary to address that involves a specific person, please IM a mod first to discuss it. We can be reached at terraqueous orb (Kayla), end title (Fudgey) or a great fanfare (Jenn). (Though Jenn is on hiatus right now because her laptop is broken, so Kayla or Fudgey would be best for right now!)
Anonymous will be left off for this round (see first section).
Here are the sections that we've come up with. Add your own and we'll edit it into the list.
Anonymous: Why is it turned off?
What do the mods/helpers do, anyways?
How is my activity being monitored?
Activity check changes
Applications/turnover rate
→ Test Drive Comm
Abilities on the application
Villains & Heroes
→ Recent Villain Activity
Death
World Plot/Paradisa Lore
→ Concrete Resolutions, etc.
Canon Updates
Mini-plot Planning
Changes since last HTG
Plots in General
How's The Game will now be held quarterly, in order to avoid excessively long stretches in which there is no outlet for discussion.
Re: Activity check changes?
Slightly related--some RPs have people tag other posts with like, "c: character's name" whenever they comment to it so that they can keep track of who they've commented to. Is that something we could do, or does the number of characters here (and all the tag renaming that would have to happen) make this really, really, really difficult?
REGARDLESS OF THE ANSWERS TO THOSE TWO QUESTIONS...
I want to suggest something like keeping a one-post requirement and adding an addition of three or four 10+ comment threads from that many different other character's posts. All these numbers could be fiddled with, but here's my reasoning:
I think incentive to keep posting is good, because if we don't have posts, what do we reply to? D: Having it be at one post might help alleviate some of that "a bunch of people post at the last minute before AC to scrape by" stuff that has been mumbled about in the past. It's also good for characters who don't have much to say to the castle or who are, you know, kind of antisocial loners who wouldn't logically use the journal much anyway. So long as the post isn't just a private post, it sounds pretty doable.
I'm assuming it was implied that the threads you would submit for AC would be on posts besides your own. This might encourage people to thread around more, which is also something that's been mumbled about before. I'm wary about the comment count being too high, because I play one of those characters that tends to lose interests in conversations/get annoyed with people/generally stop caring about whatever the other person has to say... but then again, maybe I need to be finding ways around that.
But those are my long two cents. I'm done editing now, I swear.
Re: Activity check changes?
I think though that we'd for sure always have the 1-post requirement. Personally I'd like to see it like this:
-Character didn't make it
∴ 1 post + ___ # of threads required
This would be determined on a player-to-player basis since even if your character loses interest in convos/gets annoyed etc., if they have 5 convos of only 4-6 comments per poster that get dropped....well, that's kind of spotty ): Especially since the character in question only has 1 post + 5 v. short convos.
But yeah AC on threads would come from posts other than your own (ie. you can't make 1 post, and then use 4-5 threads from THAT POST to make AC).

This makes sense. The number would probably want to be bumped up to replace something post-length-ish. Yes.
