HOW'S MY DRIVING?

Comment with the names of the characters you play for feedback on your roleplaying. Other players will then reply to your comment telling you what they honestly think in a constructive manner. While the staff highly encourages everyone to participate, only comment if you are capable of giving and taking potentially harsh concrit in a mature, level-headed manner. Assume good faith at all times. Crit is meant to be resolved, not "won". Give mutual respect for each other's work and ideas. Aggressiveness creates unproductive stress and conflict. If you are emotionally compromised, you ~~are not fit to captain the Starship Enterprise~~ need to step back, take a break, and then return when you're ready.

Anonymous commenting is ENABLED. Anonymity doesn't detract from the validity of concrit. An anonymous compliment is a compliment; an anonymous crit is still a crit. However, if you are going to post anonymously, consider it your obligation to follow up –– it is frustrating for muns to never get a reply back, and HMD should be first and foremost an ongoing discussion.

We have provided a form to post with, if you would like to use it. Mentioning things like canon points, permanent losses and recent major events in their lives in Paradisa may help give people a better idea of the character's mindset and current actions.

Alternatively, you may choose to post a link to your private HMD thread on the character's journal and take comments there instead. The first thread of this post will be reserved for those people, and we will freeze those comments. People will be expected to follow the link to the character's individual HMD to give crit there.

But argh. I always feel like I shouldn't bother trying to enable a Katara, since her buddies aren't here, and this Zuko doesn't know her as anything close to a friend. I feel like no Katara would want to join into that. >.

Well I try to include her goals in her wiki's relationship chart so it doesn't come off the wrong way, because yeah Lana DEFINITELY does not trust someone like Zelman, and she no longer socializes with Joshua K. at all since coming back. Other than Zelman I can't really think of shady people she puts up with on a regular basis, and for him she has her reasons. She doesn't trust him, but she also appreciates that he doesn't baby her, and his training has been useful because of that. But one major reason she keeps an eye on him is so she can react quickly and let the supers know if he tries anything too insane.

I hope that makes sense? I'll try to make that a little more clear in her next post.

Those are some very good things to consider, although if you phrase it that way... It seems like Sora would be the one to go, wouldn't he? lksdf. It might be for the best, future plans aside.

what it all comes down to too is who you really WANT want to keep. who are you most active with OUTSIDE of paradisa (on sites like dear_mun and such), on memes and things? I would say sora is a plotheavy and demanding character; if you really want to keep him it might be best for him (and your sanity as a player) to consider stepping back on (or dropping) more than one of your other charaacters so you can devote necessary time and energy to him. if you drop one more demanding character, the others might be easier to keep up with, whereas if you drop, say, two characters who are a little less demanding you can commit more to such an active, nosy, energetic character.

again its not that I really want to see you throw any of your guys out. but it might be best for you personally if you lighten the load and focus more on fewer characters.

This is a tough one, because I don't want to give you a hard time over RL, because it certainly should take precedence. What worries me though is that you've been VERY inactive for the relatively short time I've been in game and have brought in two characters in the last...what?...month? two months? If things are better for you, that's good, but I really wonder if it was wise considering how much you've been around previously, to the point that I was not even sure you were still in the game. Please think about that.

Also, you do not have wiki pages for any of your characters. It really helps me to get a sense of your character and how you're playing him, but also to know who plays them and how to get in contact with you. I seriously have no idea who you are. Which...might make me oblivious.

Individually, I can only offer crit on two of your boys, but for both I just don't see them tag around much to even get a good sense of your portrayal, but I will try.

Harry is, as far as I can tell, good. But he seems FAR too introverted. I know he's in a tough spot, canon-wise, but he's a friendly guy. The few posts I've seen from him have been filtered to castmates and that makes me sad. How can you get more CR if you don't have him actually talk to other people? I'd really like Harry to work with Felix and the council more, but the one thread I started with him you dropped completely.

Chase I also haven't seen around much, and he seems to be stuck either talking to his roommate, talking to newbies, or moping around the clinic. Get him out there more. Have him take some initiative. Start offering services to townspeople or something. Later seasons Chase has a backbone...he's learning to live for himself and not necessarily for the validation of House or Cameron. He seems really unhappy and therefore it doesn't exactly encourage me to try and tag him, assuming you have an open post at all.

TL;DR post moar...self-evaluate character load...muses seem sad.

First, thank you so much for taking the time to comment! I really appreciate it. I've definitely given some thought to what I should do in terms of my activity and I have decided that I won't app any other characters in Paradisa until I can work out CR for these boys and get them active. Honestly, I just got too excited about being in the game and I wanted to do more but somehow every time I app a character in, RL just hits me hard, so I've really learned my lesson now. If I can't keep up, then I will definitely consider focusing on just one or two characters but for now, I'm going to give myself the chance to work things out and see where that takes me.

Wiki pages -- I am going to work on that real soon. I'm a total newbie with regards to wiki editing. Will need to check out the tutorials and get in touch with other players to help me out with that.

I truly enjoyed Harry's first few posts and first few tags to other character's threads and how he got to talking to different people and I definitely want him to get back to doing that. I'm also very keen on getting him more involved with Felix and the council. I apologize for dropping that thread we had as RL got in the way. I will try to do better next time.

With regards to the boys being sad - it's something I'm trying to work at as I took them from difficult points in their canon and they've had a difficult time adjusting to being in the castle. I also haven't had a lot of time to get them to interact with more people in the castle so it's taking some time for them to get out of their rut. I think once I can get them active, I can tackle that problem.

With Chase, I am going to do a quick canon review for him and work on the things you pointed out. I also agree that he needs to get out there more and I want him to develop more CR.

I was a wiki newb as well. I just sorta...copied other people...lol. It doesn't have to be super detailed (hell, I still don't have all of mine done), but basic info and contact stuff is a must in the very least.

Echoing a need to look into your Britspeak. You consistently use the same few phrases over and over and over, and it comes off as if you don't know anything about British slang at all. I would suggest extensive googling and perhaps immersion in Brit fandoms.

As a side note, your response to crit has been very disheartening, starting with the 'I'm awesome at Spike, I don't need crit' and continuing onto the wank and immature comments about your cast on HMD. I planned to do this logged in, but your attitude convinced me that was a bad idea. Crit doesn't mean people loathe you, it means they think you can improve upon one thing or another.

Nikola is amazing, to the point that I actually had to get off my butt, look up his canon and then watch as much as I could find. What have you done to me? I'm just blown away by his voice and his wit, and I knew I was in for a treat from the moment he started trolling Clu because-- TESLA + TECHNOLOGY, REALLY-- and it was all true to form and better than I could have expected. You have him down, and I am so glad for the CR that we have, because if anyone could understand Clu's needy, bitter frustration, it's him.

You entirely misinterpreted my statement. Obviously, if IC interactions dictate that Spike change his feelings about Harmony he will be less mean to her. I won't change his attitude towards her for OOC reasons, but if the situation in game changes, of course his attitude would also change.

We're talking here. We're going to work on threading more. And the reason they haven't interacted much is because neither of them have such great feelings towards the other. But yes, they should talk more, and we'll both be working on it.

I have been watching a British... drama, I think? I'm not sure what category it falls in. But it's very good, though I guess it's been a few weeks. I should keep watching. But yes, I will definitely accent review.

Okay, I am open to crit, but I also do not accept it off the bat. I've been told by British people that my accent when I write Spike is very good, so when an anonymous person says I need to work on it, I have to weigh it against what other people have said in the past. However, since a lot of people have given me the same crit, I am now going to consider it more and accent review.

I'm working on the wording, since I've been told I sound like that: I do seriously consider crit and am interested in knowing if and what people have. It's just that I may decide I disagree with something presented, and it seems rude to put up a post inviting people to share their feelings and then waste people's time about it. (And...I do admit I'm rather shy about HMDs so I'm iffy on understanding the expectations and etiquette involved in them)

That said: do I seem only around enough to make activity? I believe I had three or four posts last month, and tagged out a decent amount as well?

Though...on an OOC note I've been feeling out the game a bit, and thus kept my distance activity wise, ICly Rose was spending most of her time in the TARDIS going through the library and going over things with Ten.

With a different vibe with the new Ten and the castle having gone out of its way to make things personal for Rose, I imagine she'll want a more active role in things now.

Yeah, I know the insecurity feeling. But you do great. Really. And... I still can't comment on the other two. But they seem cool?

Well...it's partly as I said above. I'm a very shy person when first joining a game, and it's awkward for me tagging out to people because it feels a bit like pushing her onto characters. With canonmates it's a bit easier sometimes...but I'm fairly certain I've tagged out to non-canonmates as much as I've tagged canonmates. People whom I talk to OOCly--such as the old Ten mun and a few others--I find easier to tag because I can easily say 'hey is me tagging you here, here, and here annoying? Do you need me to priority tag back because you'll only be here a half hour or you'll be gone a few days?'

It's sort of a sad thing, but the longer I'm around, the more I feel I belong and can tag out with more confidence.

On an IC/OOC straddling level, yeah it was pretty tough to figure out what was going on with Ten often because of some delicate plot situations, a fairly important hanging thread, and really the general living situation. ICly, Rose was spending much of her time researching and looking for whatever answers she thinks the other her must have found to be swept away by the castle. It's a pretty boring and difficult thing to really post to, and once she was living in the TARDIS almost impossible to action tag to.

As things are now, I'm a bit more comfortable with Para, and Rose has motivation to go out and deal with the Castle.

One of the things to probably note though is that Rose is season four, not season two. She's a bit more down to business and dry than before. This is the woman who took control of UNIT without a name, manipulated Donna into sacrificing her life, and barely said hello to Jack. The empathy and curiosity are still there, but she's a driven woman, and although this isn't the end of all reality she's still going to approach a situation like the castle with that same seriousness. First she's going to want to do whatever she can to escape and stop the castle pulling in people or doing whatever it is it's doing.

When she's determined that's not an imminent possibility, she'll settle more into the 'meantime', and relax a bit more.

Although...as a last note to the AC issue: I don't intentionally skip over tag backs in her posts. Often the problem is actually a notif one. Para seems to really enjoy lagging or showing up in spam/wrong folders on my Yahoo, and I get so many emails it's sometimes a case that I need to leave a tab open on my active posts to make sure I get the tags in a timely manner.

...And then sometimes, just to screw with me apparently, they'll start working perfectly for awhile and randomly cut out when I'm not looking. I honestly do not know what Yahoo's problem is with Para notifs.

I agree with Felix-mun .... honestly, I looked at your list and went "Wow, we have a Harry Potter?" Also, I had Ray tag Lex's intro in the logs community and still haven't gotten a reply. Speaking from experience as someone who used to have ten characters ... I know what it's like to want to play so many awesome people, both for variety and out of love for them ... but you also have to learn your own limits.

Also, I can understand if you did this for convenience from being busy, but a GREAT way to build CR with new characters in the case of people like Lex is to let other people find and bring him to the clinic, instead of letting characters of your own handle it.

I should have been clear about that log with Lex. Originally, I had intended on writing a one piece with Lex only but added Chase in for the heck of it. The main reason I wrote the log was for anyone who wanted to notice his appearance at the castle and respond to it but I didn't intend to reply myself because Lex is just in a coma. Also, I did consider finding someone else to bring him to the clinic but I didn't have the time to work things out with another player that week. It's all on me and I am aware of how I could have handled things. But thank you for tagging Lex's log intro. What I had planned to do was to have him tag Ray's post later on and maybe be recognized as coma guy from the clinic. I was definitely psyched when Ray responded and did think about responding with Chase but I kept telling myself, NO, THAT LOG IS NOT MEANT TO BE RESPONDED TO. STICK TO THE PLAN. Which now just seems silly. I should have responded.

As for the number of characters I currently write, I am going to work on my activity in the game.
