Comment with the names of the characters you play for feedback on your roleplaying. Other players will then reply to your comment telling you what they honestly think in a constructive manner. While both praise and critique is welcome, we'd like to remind you that this is a valuable tool for many of our members. We'd like to request that all comments remain constructive.

While the staff highly encourages everyone to participate, only comment if you are capable of giving and taking potentially harsh concrit in a mature, level-headed manner. Assume good faith at all times. Crit is meant to be resolved, not "won". Give mutual respect for each other's work and ideas. Aggressiveness creates unproductive stress and conflict. If you are emotionally compromised, you are not fit to captain the Starship Enterprise need to step back, take a break, and then return when you're ready.

Anonymous commenting is ENABLED. Anonymity doesn't detract from the validity of concrit. An anonymous compliment is a compliment; an anonymous crit is still a crit. However, if you are going to post anonymously, consider it your obligation to follow up –– it is frustrating for muns to never get a reply back, and HMD should be first and foremost an ongoing discussion.

We have provided a form to post with, if you would like to use it. Mentioning things like canon points, permanent losses and recent major events in their lives in Paradisa may help give people a better idea of the character's mindset and current actions.

AWWW, thank you, hon. NO, really... thank you for being one of the rare people who shouts "MY CHILDHOOD" at an intro post and then follows through and actually gets some solid CR. :) Darkwing's pseudo-rivalry with Tesla is quite possibly the best thing ever.

I hate to say it, but I have to agree with this. Even more than just being intimidating and cold, several times I've attempted to thread or chat with you and I just feel completely unwelcome. I've lost all will to actually tag your characters because of this.

I have the most unhelpful crit ever but I love your Tesla so much because I stalked his posts before I got here. I would never say no to seeing more Tesla and I definitely want to poke at him again with Mina, he intrigues her a little (but probably not as much as she intrigues him?) but yeah :D Keep being awesome

As an American who plays a lot of British characters (just ... not in this game BUT I SWEAR, I REALLY DO), honestly a helpful thing to do is to immerse yourself in British culture.

Watch some British sitcoms, British drama, British talk shows, read some British books, listen to some British podcasts -- even just listening to British radio can help (Radio 1 or XFM are the ones I like, and they both offer livestreams).

Find a British actor you like and look around on YouTube for interviews with him on UK talk shows -- or even American talk shows, as then you can listen to the differences in syntax, etc. Even trolling YouTube for UK vlogs can be fruitful!

I used that post because it's a good representation of you doing it in a contrived way that takes minimal effort to demonstrate my point and it was the most recent example. If you really want me to, I will go back in Spike's tag and get further examples, but I didn't expect you to leap on the defensive when I was trying to show you what you were doing. You're disregarding my crit entirely and making excuses for it and it doesn't really make you look open to crit - especially when combined with how you're acting in the other threads here.

I'm going to agree with icarustattoo about immersing yourself in British culture. But, a rewatch is best because of how many different regional dialects of the accent there are and they all have unique colloquialisms and quirks to them so you want to study Spike's in particular. If I were you, I'd rewatch his canon, make notes of britspeak phrases he uses, and keep them in a notepad. Then immerse yourself in the British culture and make a separate list of similar ones. For instance, you don't want to use Rose Tyler from Doctor Who as your springboard for it, because her accent is completely different from Spike's. It's heavier and more London specific.

I do, however, always tag back people who tag me, and once I've got CR established with a character, I'll tag them more often.

This is a really bad method in a game as big as Paradisa. It's also really bad to use the size of the game as an excuse. The size means there are plenty of people who you don't know OOC and who aren't in your cast to tag, regardless of time constraints. You basically just said that you don't have time to play in a game this big but are playing here to hide within your cast. You shouldn't wait for people to come to you to build CR with them, and you shouldn't only tag characters you know. You should tag based on post content.

Including more detail in the tag to compensate for the e-mail tagging would be a great middle ground. I didn't realize you were tagging from e-mail, or that your time when you wouldn't be tagging from e-mail would be way lower, in which case it's totally understandable. But, yeah, more detail in brackets or something would be awesome to indicate tone of voice/mood/expression/etc. Thanks for being so understanding! I acknowledge that it's nitpicky but it really does affect the stiffness of the thread. And your response cleared up a lot of confusion, because I wasn't sure why you were doing it when you have all your accounts paid, so thanks for the time.

Okay I'm glad you intend to work on it and I want to clarify that I'm not expecting Sam to go around punching walls and picking fights all the time. Yeah, those make great outbursts, but I specifically said it's a constant underlying thing for him that affects his relationships by simply causing tension in them. Not by making him punch walls like a psycho who needs anger management.

A good example of a way to show it subtly would be to have him act pissy with Dean now that he's back. Not because he's mad at Dean for being here, but because he's mad that inevitably, he'll walk right back out that door, like he has every other time. He's not going to punch walls over Dean being here, because that would be admitting to his irrational anger, but he does have that anger and he is going to let it cause tension in his relationship with Dean and he is going to be a snippy bitch about it which is one of his most prominent canon traits.

i think it should, too! when things happen one after the other, she's not so... resilient? it sounds like we're going to be on downtime so i'm looking forward to clearing her head and strengthening her bonds with new CR and ones she isn't very close with.

by the way, how do you feel about emil, felix and uru working on that curse sometime soon? as felix-mun stated above, they would like to get the ball rolling on it since i was on hiatus for so long.

It is going to happen! I really hate that I haven't been around as much these past few months because it's not fair to castmates/CR/anyone waiting on a thread to finish up.
