My name is OJ and I am a Homestuck fan and therefore I am playing a Homestuck character and her name is Rose Lalonde and she was cloned from an ectobiological paradox slime and sent to Earth thirteen years before her cloning to grow up and help set in motion the series of events that led to her cloning from an ectobiological paradox slime.

...Wait, let me start again.

Rose Lalonde is thirteen, an American of Quebec descent (or uh she would be if she wasn't cloned from her mother who was cloned from herself - the webcomic clearly doesn't make one whit of sense without a few tons of context). She types in bold, velvet-colored Courier.

To put it bluntly, Rose is a child prodigy gone horribly wrong. No, she's not evil - actually, quite the contrary - but she is definitely more than a little paranoid (she often thinks honest actions are meant as passive-aggressive, and reacts accordingly, only for said sarcasm or passive-aggressive behavior to frequently fly over the head of whoever else). She has a secret hobby of creative writing about wizards, and more public interests in psychology and eldritch abominations. She'll sometimes try to psychoanalyze people as a way of getting to know them or otherwise trying to get under their skin. She reads Grimoires, of the Lovecraftian variety, of the zoologically dubious (that come complete with incomprehensible instructions on summoning said horrors).

She's grabbed from canon's EOA4 animation when she blows up her gate. A suitably tumultous moment to pull her from.

Rose is best friends with Dave Strider, John Egbert, and Jade Harley. Jade isn't in Paradisa. John and Dave are. This is why I'm here, at least in part: playing the kids off each other provides an interesting dynamic that I can never, ever get enough of.

I'll make this dynamic a bit weirder by noting that her Loss is... her vocabulary. Yes, the famed writer of the page picture on the TVTropes page for purple prose will lose her purple status and become just another girl with an average teenager's vocabulary. We'll see how this goes.

HI THERE OJ, I'm going to attempt to respond in a coherent manner, despite the fact that I'm half asleep for some crazy reason I can't figure out since it's not even two yet...

ANYHOO I'm Ruru, and I'm the John you apparently apped to rp with (and here is to hoping I can get his voice down well enough not to make you regret apping in the first place ahaha). Besides him I rp this guy here from Hanna is Not a Boy's Name, Dexter Grif (Red vs. Blue), Tim Drake aka Red Robin (DC Comics) and Peter Parker aka Spider-Man (Marvel Comics). My friend already told me we got a Rose, but I'm still really excited to see this intro! Welcome to the game!

I think you're doing fine. Honestly I could do John okay if pressed and I think you're doing it well as it is. The character I simply have no way of judging is Dave; I just cannot grasp Dave's full character but I think this place's Dave is doing fine.

While we're at it I'm already playing Rose in another roleplay (a_facility if you want to stalk for some reason). I'm sharing the account 'cause honestly I already got a paidaccount gift from someone and I'm just taking advantage of it. :P

I get nervous with him at random points since sometimes I think I've got his voice, and other times I have no idea what I'm doing :|a Nice guys are hard for me... but I tend to app them a lot for some stupid reason. And ahaha, I think ours over here is doing a great job so far :) He's been lots of fun to bounce off of, so while I make no promises of my John, I DO PROMISE HER DAVE IS AWESOME!

I saw some of your comments! (Sadly over on rps during... that whole bs there :( ) and keep meaning to go check out the cast there, because it looks pretty amazing! And don't worry about the shared account. Since Paradisa is a community based game, it's pretty easy to do things like that. I know a few other people do at least.

OH OH, before I forget, since Thano was saying if you apped we should probably mention this to you, and your icon reminded me. We asked after bringing in Dave and John about the dream selves issue, and as far as the mods told us here, even though they can all sleep as per normal, their dream selves won't be able to be awake/active since, you know... other world and what not, and the unholy forces that be don't really wants pieces of the characters managing to escape its grasp.

No, that's totally fine. Facility did the exact same thing. Rose only ever got to see her idols once, I guess. Not a problem. But I'd say the no-dreamselves thing would count as a loss only if Jade apped here; the rest of us not even that, because the kids weren't even Awake in the first place. Shrug.

The shared journal is probably fine, I'm really using it because I have lots and lots of icons in it. Q: Am I only allowed to use canon icons? Rose gets two smiles, plenty of anger shots, and about five billion shots of her being totally blankfaced. I've been using fanart to fill in the gaps (worried, frustrated, etc.) not sure if I'm supposed to do that here.

I live and breathe tl;dr even if I cut it down for conciseness and readability. Don't worry about it. x)

Yeah, THIS IS TRUE! I just wanted to let you know, since we'd gone ahead and asked that out of curiosity.

Fanart icons are fine! A lot of people have fanart icons :) Since we have a decent amount of book characters, and canon images are hard to find for them, and some characters have the same problem as Rose with lack of expression. Our Dave actually has some fanart icons :) For like... smiles... since you know Dave in canon --> B|

Well, your Dave does pile it on a bit more bluntly than Facility's Dave. What point in the timeline are you taking him from? I want to figure out what's going on here.

Haha, he's from right when he entered the first gate in the fourth act. He's just a little confused and frustrated with what he thinks is Jade's world (a world switch would make more sense than just... randomly appearing in a magical castle, okay), so he's flipping his shit just the tiiiiniest bit. HE STILL LOVE/HATES YOU ROSE, HE'S JUST MORE UPFRONT AND ARGUMENTATIVE RIGHT NOW. which is really more of the same lmfao

Honestly, I haven't the slightest handle on what Dave is, only what he isn't. Which is why I'm not playing Dave - all but the broadest strokes of his personality elude me, I can't even write him in fanfic where I have all the time in the world.

The only thing I know is there's a snappiness to him that I don't ever see in present Dave except under truly extraordinary circumstances, and these probably aren't extraordinary. Just unusual.

All I can really say at this point is "sounds a lot more like Davesprite than Dave". I'm sure you could find someone else who actually sort of understands him better than I do, though -

They're getting to extraordinary, though - it's kind of getting to the point where Dave's realizing this isn't Jade's world so yeah, omgwtf is finally kicking in. Also, I'm pretty sure that the language that he's using with Rose is okay? He certainly gets argumentative with her, almost to the point where I really did think they genuinely were constantly at tenterhooks with each other. You do have a point with him sounding more like Davesprite... hmm. I'll do a quick canon review when I get the time. ♥ thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it!
