paradisamods: (DON'T WORRY THERE'S A BORDER)
PARADISA MODS ([personal profile] paradisamods) wrote in [community profile] paradisaooc2009-12-28 12:54 am

and then we took a turn for the creepy

AT LEAST THERE'LL BE PLENTY IMPLIED / IF YOU CAUGHT PNEUMONIA AND DIED: THE FIFTH WEEK

The feeling stops.

The cheer? Gone. The homey warmth? Gone. All at once, it vanishes, and that joy-clouded version of Christmas-at-Paradisa changes. The decorations lose their sparkle and start to look tired, the boughs of the trees sag, and the formerly rich reds and lustrous greens seem dulled.

The fairytale is over, and in its absence is an emptiness, like a house being packed up for a big move.

What happened, Paradisa? What changed so suddenly?

THE STATUS QUO

We were originally going to do an event on the 28th-29th, but it was starting to feel cramped. Everyone's really busy with holiday stuff, so it felt like overkill, especially with the finale in the first week of January and the climax from the 7th-9th. So ,here we are letting you know what's going down.

This whole month we've been stressing the "Paradisa loves you and wants you to be happy and feel like you're at home" thing. And now... it's gone. Here's why: Paradisa has decided it likes this group, and when Paradisa likes something... it keeps it.

Forever.

THE NEW YEAR

On December 31st, we're doing what we did last year, because people seemed to enjoy that: all drinks take on the effect of alcohol. If your character is the age where being drunk is really not cool (here's looking at you, Ike and Nanako and the like) or you're totally uncomfortable with that (or your character is biologically immune to alcohol), then you're free to bypass it... but we kinda advise playing with it.

Why?

Because at midnight, every character is going to feel a strong, familiar-but-can't-quite-place-it hand on their shoulder, and a familiar voice in their ear, saying:

"Welcome home, forever, Traveler..."

And being drunk when you hear that will be either hilarious or ridiculously sobering.

QUESTIONS

You asked for "normal people" volunteers recently. What's up?
You'll be getting an email sometime tomorrow with a confirmation, and directions.

When are apps going to reopen/losses coming back/whatever?
Tentative date is January 11th, because we don't want all those new people coming in to distract from the plot.

You said the castle decided to keep them forever... what if I need/want to drop a character?
If you need or want to drop a character in the month of January, we'll just imply they're still there! Any castmates will be able to NPC them for the remainder of the month. If this is a serious problem for anyone, feel free to contact the mods and we will discuss. It's important that we do this, though, since it'll be more convincing that nobody is leaving if ... well, nobody is leaving.

SEEKING OTHER VOLUNTEERS

Do you play one of the following?
a) a godmode type
b) a character who frontlines most major events/fights

If so, we need your character names and emails here. We're gonna need you for the 7th of January, and we've got a weird fun thing to keep you busy while everyone else is doing other stuff.

If you play a "middle ground" character who is between both groups, or you just can't decide where they'd fit better... would you rather BE the mystery, or WORK the mystery? You'll still get to play either way!

Ho boy.

York and Delta are what I'd call frontliners.

If given a choice, of course Raine wants to work the mystery!

Yuan...tries to frontline, but he's really not godmode enough to be useful for a lot of things. ...He's not exactly normal, either. Working the mystery is preferable, but I'm open to anything and everything, and really intrigued to find out just what's going on. sylviaviridian@gmail.com for contact? 8D

Thors is middle ground-y to the max.

[identity profile] forlea.livejournal.com 2009-12-28 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
As is Goliath, to an extent. And to clarify, I'll pitch them both in to work the mystery, but Thors can be the mystery if need be.

Once it's past the 9th, will people stop feeling like they are stuck there forever? Because a week to me doesn't seem like a lot of time for the idea of being stuck forever to really sink in for people.

And since Fudgey gave me permission to have computer access on the 7th, I'll volunteer Allen to be on the godmode/frontline types. My email is at Yuffie99k@gmail.com

Are we allowed to decide against participating once we find out what this mystery volunteer thing is? Because I think I'm interested in participating, but I really dislike signing characters up for stuff without knowing what they're being signed up for.

Alice would be middleground-y, and I'd like her in on something, if that's okay. Stick her in the group with the least amount of volunteers, whatever that turns out to be.

I'll probably be off hiatus by the 7th, so I'll go ahead and throw my godmods here. My email's sumeragi.subaru@gmail.com, and the godmod characters would definitely be Lana Lang and Joshua Christopher.

...I guess Gaignun Jr. would also count. He's always a frontline fighter (usually the leader), and has that doomsday godmode power. B| wtf I need more normals like Nina. >:

EDIT; Oh duh, I forgot Larsa. I'd call him a middle grounder. And I guess 'be' the mystery works.

This guy might be semi-godmode? =/ He is pretty hot shit as a wizard, it seems. I've got Rin with the normals anyway, so I leave the decision to you! undead.invader@gmail.com

Also, said familiar voice and familiar-but-unplaceable hand: so is this actually a mystery person that the characters won't recognize at all no matter how they try, or are we choosing who they hear?

Oh, snap. I've been looking for an excuse to get Ten drunk after Joann and I talked about how utterly humiliating it could be. :|b

And I wouldn't exactly call him a fighter, but Ten'd want to be wherever the action is, if only to make sure people don't get hurt so, IDK? Maybe he'd fit into one of those categories? If he does, my email's skinnedbeesknees@gmail.com.

YESSSS

Deadpool is a total godmod. It's... Ok that I have character's in both camps? I'M JUST MAKING SURE!!!

Would Terry be middle ground? He's a normal teenager but when he puts the suit on he's pretty hax against normal people.

Nagi K. was front line, before he died? And he's pretty godmode-y in Deadman mode.

the.elusive.pimpernel@gmail.com

And Vincent...is kinda godmode-ish through manipulation/things in the past...but I think he still might be middle-ground in this case. And for workin' the mystery 8D

[identity profile] firsttsurugi.livejournal.com 2009-12-28 10:23 am (UTC)(link)
Cloud's pretty godmode-y in how he defies and defeats those that are better than him, somehow, some way. Case and point, Sephiroth. That and he's immensely powerful to begin with. When he tries and doesn't hesitate.

Sonic with the Chaos Emeralds can manipulate time and space (of course, within reason in a place like Paradisa), and with all seven here now, if he has them all, Super Sonic is arguably one of the most powerful forces here in Paradisa. So...
