Remember that silly roleplayer who played an egocentric vampire genius who adores pigeons by the name of Nikola Tesla and a cowardly flamboyant guy who likes cute girls and broken clothes by the name of Garry?

But yes, I'm back after a long three week hiatus! I'm so sorry for not announcing it earlier, but it was very unexpected and I didn't have the chance to get on DW and make posts or anything. Thank you to all of those who covered for me, it means a lot. ;;

That being said, I'm still rather busy most evenings and on the weekends, so tags will be slow! But I'll do my best to catch up with everything, especially the family plot that just started. (By the way, does anyone want the awkward young man that is Garry in any of their houses? He's the only one without a house, and I'd like for him to be somewhere, even if it means he's that awkward cousin twice-removed that no one remembers. If not, I'll put him on the cruise. )

Hello, Paradisans!

It's the second day of the family plot and in short order another general mingle post will be going up for people to use at-will.

The check in and cabin mingling post from yesterday is still going pretty strong! Please feel free to backtag, as some people did arrive a little later to the post and it would be nice to see them getting some attention too.

Other than that, people are of course free to make their own posts making use of locations around the resort and around town. There's already something silly being done at the ice cream shop, but people are free to play with all locations further, make up sites of their own, and to use the resort itself, which has a lake to explore (along with all its shorespace to explore too - feel free to find abandoned cabins, rope swings, arrowheads and weird small things, wildlife) and fish on as well as the forest to go through.

Another cabin mingle post will go up later this week for those who didn't get to do as much the first time around or feel shy about tagging in a post that's so large already.

And as for the Galapagos people, they're on the island of Floreana today. Enjoy watching the sea lions!

At the end of the poll, the votes were tied. As there is currently not an overwhelming majority in favor of OCs, we will not be introducing them into the game. If there is an interest in the future, we will gladly revisit the topic for further discussion.

WORLD BUILDING TEAM

Building a world is a huge undertaking. It's really not something that can be done by a small handful of people, especially if those people are also busy juggling other commitments, both online and offline. Paradisa's information pages are also out of date, or were never completed in the first place.

The idea isn't to make Paradisa a huge, unwieldy wall of text. We just want to cover a lot of stuff that may pique people's interest, and make Paradisa's mechanics and history more accessible.

At the end of the day, this community belongs to its members, and members should absolutely have an active role in creating the guide-book to the game they developed. This can be something that not only pulls the game together by giving us something to read and share with the world, but also something that can pull us together as fellow writers and as members of a fantastic team.

As a result, we are asking people to help us build an info guide by writing articles for us! If you're not a writer, we'll also have jobs for editors (as all articles will be peer-reviewed before getting the Stamp of Approval from mods) and artists who would like to draw or assemble photosets for the aesthetic side of Paradisa.

The guide will be posted to DW, not to the Wikia, largely because of a) formatting b) a commenting system for certain pages and c) aesthetics. All pages will be housed in a new community, worldofparadisa!

The topics are divided into three sections. People can jump between them however they'd like.

1. City-building
City-building involves writing pages for the city. Whether it's coming up with new buildings, explaining aspects of the city's culture, describing the government or the social services or industries, it's all about fleshing out the place to make it more lived-in. How do residents find accommodations in the city? What are the fine details of how city-folk interact with residents? What do they do with their garbage? What kind of clothing do people wear? These are the questions we want people to come up with answers for, fleshing out our "generic European Renaissance" base city.

2. Mechanics
Not so interested in the creating aspect? No worries -- we need pages on various mechanics of Paradisa as well. We're looking for people to write pages on topics everything "a day in the world of Paradisa." We're also looking for people to write on topics like "how to write a great app" or "how to format posts" or "RP etiquette".

3. History
Paradisa has a lot of history! We will need articles that summarize events that have taken place, as well as contributions to the overall lore of the game.

In addition, it would be neat to see articles written from an IC perspective as well. Lois Lane's massive reference post is fantastic, but there's more to Paradisa than just the World Beyond. Want to write about the history of vampires in Paradisa? How about a page on the history of the Peace Patrol? What about that time where we went to Jurassic Park, or that high school? It's be great for characters to have their own reference, and if your own character wouldn't write an article, that's okay -- maybe someone else can interview them, or you can "donate" a written article to another character who would.
