New Character & Player

Hi everyone! I’m a newbie (to paradisa and RPing in general), so I thought I’d just drop by and introduce myself and the creepy handsome gentleman I’m going to be playing. I’m Elizabeth. He is Barnabas Collins, a vampire from Dark Shadows, a 1960s gothic soap opera. Yes, I know I’m weird.

As far as vampires go he’s pretty standard. Super strength, vulnerability to sunlight, stakes through the heart, and silver bullets, ability to turn into a bat, doesn’t show up in mirrors, sleeps in a coffin during the day, etc. His fangs don’t show unless he’s about to nom someone. Oh! And after he noms someone he has some kind of ~mind control powers~ over them. Not that he’ll want you to know any of this or even that he is a vampire. Doubtless, he will attempt to appear as a perfect gentleman.

i'm going to pull a hiatus here, because due to stupid choices i went over our download limit. don't ask, australia has sucky internet. really really sucky internet. and because of this my internet is as slow as a snail, making posting and tagging a living nightmare.

so from now until the first of june hopefully, i'm gonna be on hiatus. i'll still be on aim i just won't be able to tag or post, my dudes are doing stuff, being awesome or something along those lines.

i also dropped hei. i'm sorry jesse and nica i think, the muse was just slipping and i have much louder muses that i'd really love to play here. you'll get another lineface as a replacement, i swear.

if you need me you can defiantly catch me on aim its a kiku, i'll be in chat sobbing in a corner. if not i'm selling my soul to my ps3 and sobbing.

Hey guys! Long time, no see.

So... I was supposed to be back on Monday. I planned on being back on Monday. Then life kicked me and that got a little...pushed back.

I'm still in the middle of picking up the pieces, so I'm not going to be around much until I can get past June 3 and kiss my sorry excuse for a job goodbye. But Tas will be emerging from the Insolitus as of today and I'll try to make some rounds so I don't completely fail.

Atm, I don't really have time to go back and read a week's worth of posts, but if I missed something that my pups really should have been involved in, let me know and I'll jump right in.

Good to be back and... yeah. Hopefully this will settle down again in about a week.

Las Vegas nearly killed me, but I'm finally back home and recuperating. Going to start trying to catch up and get back into the swing of things tonight, do some re-reading of old threads to remember where I left everyone off, figure out what I've missed, all that crap.

If there's anything that any of my characters should be made aware of or anything, or if there's a thread/plan that you want to make sure I haven't forgotten/lost track of, PLEASE let me know. Greetings, one and all! I'm new to Paradisa, though I have RPed before. I'm Amanda (though most folks online call me Mori), and I'll be playing the cat from Coraline. Sarcasm and sage(ish) advice ahoy!

To anyone unfamiliar with Coraline, the cat acts exactly how you think a cat would behave--he's mysterious, self-centered, sarcastic, and wise. He thinks most humans are rather foolish. He likes to play with his food, preferring mice to canned cat food or cheezburgers. He does not appreciate the xkcd property of cat proximity, as he would prefer to have intelligent conversations.

He can also sense magic. Before Paradisa, he could travel between different worlds. He was able to move from Coraline's "real" world to the Other Mother's world at will. This ability is his loss, however, resulting in a damaged ego and an irritated, stranded cat. He can still tell when he's around other kinds of magic, however, so he might be wary around magical characters. (Will I need a permissions post for this?)

If you'd like to know more about this character, I highly recommend reading the book because 1) it's by Neil Gaiman, 2) it's AMAZING, and 3) it's short. You can watch the movie, too, of course--a few of the events are different, but the cat is almost exactly the same. PLUS he has Keith David's voice, mmmmmm. I'll try to have my wiki page up soon, also.

To anyone already familiar with Coraline--HIIIIII! I'd be happy to talk to you and set some relationships and whatnot straight before entering the RP fray. I believe there was a Coraline before, but now she's gone, yes? And there might have been another cat before me? But Wybie is around here somewhere? I'd love to connect with people before posting my intro.

It's been a fun run with Joan, especially since bringing her back but I've been slipping with her voice for a while now and it's not fair to squat on such an amazing female. So, Joan is going home where she can continue to be her HBIC self.

HOWEVER.

She's not going back in one piece.

Yep, I'm a terrible person. :B

Tonight, part of Joan's body will be found in the city. She was cut in half and only her lower body will be found. Any volunteers to find the (half) body? There were no signs of a struggle, it was like a blitz attack that left her no time to fight back. Anyone who examines the body will notice the body was sawed in half perfectly, razor-clean cut. For now, there will be no way of telling who the body belongs to, as she didn't have anything to identify her by on her. Later on in the week, the culprit will be revealed but residents can work together to see whodunit.

Thank you to everyone who had CR with her. ♥ It was a blast bouncing her off of you guys. :( SHE'S REALLY GOING TO MISS YOU SHORTPACK, DAHLING.

If anyone has any other questions or concerns, please bring them up here! Lastly, Joan had a canary that any of her friends from here are allowed to take in. Anyone?

and speaking of psychopaths, guess who's finally doing some psychoing? that's right! now having a few possible "identity-clues" in mind, X is feeling that he needs to draw them out. and how, you may ask?

why, by a box!

"but, bakhu, what's so special about this box?"

i'll tell you! at first glance, this box seems rather normal. just abnormally red. (as pictured above.) however, if one were to examine it closer, they would see that the redness inside is liquid, and if one were to pry open the box with say, a crowbar, they would see that the redness is in fact, not just a liquid and the smell of dead bodies becomes rather strong. why yes, that is a ground up body inside that box. to quote:

"While not shown in the manga, X transforms into a mass of slime and completely engulfs his target to turn him into a red box by cutting, grinding and compressing them in his body."

what's this tl;dr getting at? basically, X dumped the box outside the castle doors, somewhere in the grounds where it's easy to stumble upon. but keep in mind that his identity is sekrit and he did not run around doing it as himself. so it would be awesome-sauce if people found/came across/whatever it is you guys do. even feel free to move it or keep it fi you'd like, just make sure to let me know if you do so. if you have any problems or questions, please don't hesitate to ask here or at inhereditare@AIM.
