It's the most wonderful time of the year~~~

Well Christmas is closing in on us with only 10 days, I was - and can tell others have too - thinking have doing a little party/get together. xD Someone else already made a post about a party, but I come here with another idea in mind. Something along the lines of a secret Santa kind of thing? I'm not entirely sure how it would work exactly, myself but it was something that crossed my mind numerous times and I thought I might as well bring the idea up to discuss upon.

And if someone else already said something about it, please disregard this :D; ♥

Ah, I think that'd be fun, if we can work out how to sort something like that out? :3 Since it's for the characters to do IC (I'm guessing), it shouldn't be too much trouble, right?

[identity profile] ryuuseisui.livejournal.com 2006-12-15 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that would be convenient. XD Would we want it to be a secret IC as well as OOC?

[identity profile] able.livejournal.com 2006-12-15 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Mmm I'm not sure. Probably, since it'd be more fun, I think :3 And I figured once we get everything sorted out, we could have it done by Christmas or at least a day or two afterwards.

[identity profile] ryuuseisui.livejournal.com 2006-12-16 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
*thumbs up* Yeah, that sounds good. :D Hmm, the only thing I can think of is one person doing the drawing of names/assigning them to people, but that person would know everyone's Secret Santa then and probably wouldn't be able to participate, unless that wouldn't be an issue.

[identity profile] dreamofdancing.livejournal.com 2006-12-16 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
I wonder if there is some kind of random picking thing? XD *ponders* Or a random number generator of some sort, if that would work? But then someone would still have to take care of doing that, so that's probably no good. Unless everyone only knew the numbers and the names wouldn't be revealed until right at the end, if/when the characters find out?

[identity profile] able.livejournal.com 2006-12-16 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
...*googles* 8D Can't hurt to look anyway.

[identity profile] ryuuseisui.livejournal.com 2006-12-16 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
Yay~ XD If all else fails, maybe something like everyone who wants to be involved commenting anonymously to a post and they'd be given numbers in that order and then those numbers would be matched up at random? Although then nobody would know whose Secret Santa they're supposed to be. XD;; Or which anonymous commenter they were, unless there's some kind of not-too-obvious to identify yourself afterwards. *bricked*

[identity profile] randomtology.livejournal.com 2006-12-16 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
What if we have one person do it, and they are given all the names of the people who want to particpate. And then the characters are given numbers, and that person randomly chooses who goes with who by like dice or something?

As for IC, just pretty much have a sign up and drawing.

[identity profile] able.livejournal.com 2006-12-16 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
Or maybe we have two people do it? With the number thing. And when it comes to choosing for one of the two, the other will do it and vice versa. That way no one is left out? xD; Did that make sense?

[identity profile] randomtology.livejournal.com 2006-12-16 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
*nods* That might work. Though I don't know anything that does random name generator from a list, and I know there is a random number generator from a set of number.

Plus there's the whole question of the characters actually KNOWING who they get. *thinks*

[identity profile] randomtology.livejournal.com 2006-12-16 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
*ponders*

What if we have the muns sign up their characters in groups? And each group has their own sekrit santa? That way, its a higher chance that they get someone they know

Like this. Lets use Terra's characters for the starter. She has Aang, Anzu, Ravi and Zell. And as far as I know, none of them know each other. So they all start with their own group

Group A:
Anzu

Group B:
Ravi

etc etc

Now, you and me come along. I have Allen who has no idea who Anzu is, so he'll go into group B with Ravi (who he knows). Meanwhile you have Yuugi who knows Anzu, so he'll go to Group A. And as the groups grow, there are more connections. And if there are a group that TRUELY have no connection to the current ones? We start a new group for them.

Make any sense or am I talking crazy?

[identity profile] randomtology.livejournal.com 2006-12-16 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
Nope, you're right on target! :D The examples I used just HAPPENED to be connected by fandom cause I'm lame like that. But like Sora? Since he met Yuugi in game, would probably go into his group. And anyone who knows Sora would go into that group and etc.

[identity profile] ryuuseisui.livejournal.com 2006-12-16 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, there doesn't really seem to be a way around needing one person to take care of that and knowing who everyone will be, I'm guessing? XD *ponders*

[identity profile] randomtology.livejournal.com 2006-12-16 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, to save on confusion. We give them a list, and they just go with it.

Did I also mention I will so not be the person doing the choosing (if we do it that way) cause omg, managing the competitions are enough for me *falls over*

[identity profile] ryuuseisui.livejournal.com 2006-12-16 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
XD *thumbs up* I'd be willing to do it, as long as I have an idea of how to go about doing it so I won't screw it up.

[identity profile] ryuuseisui.livejournal.com 2006-12-16 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that's true. XD *ponders* THERE MUST BE SOME WAY.

[identity profile] randomtology.livejournal.com 2006-12-16 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
Heres a random number generator. You can set it so you it only comes out with the amount of numbers you want

http://www.random.org/nform.html (http://www.random.org/nform.html)

As for assigning numbers? hmm, just go with chronilogical order of who signs up.

[identity profile] ryuuseisui.livejournal.com 2006-12-16 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, thanks~ *thumbs up*

[identity profile] aseraphim.livejournal.com 2006-12-15 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
It'd have to be explained to Nuri xD; But I'd love to jump in on something, since I passed on the swimming thing

[identity profile] able.livejournal.com 2006-12-15 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
xD Yaaay! Yeah I figure that if everyone likes the idea, we'd explain it to everyone.

[identity profile] excel-sama.livejournal.com 2006-12-16 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
Ooh, sounds fun! Something tells me Excel will see this as an opportunity to recruit someone into ACROSS, though. Lord Ilpalazzo sees the holidays as a bad thing and she happens to like them, so why not kill two birds with one spear? XD

[identity profile] excel-sama.livejournal.com 2006-12-16 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
It's a shame she doesn't remember the Puchuus. I can see her sending the poor soul she picked a dead Puchuu with the words, "Join ACROSS! Merry Xmas!" scribbled on it. |D

[identity profile] able.livejournal.com 2006-12-16 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
Or she could've sent killer Puchuus to everyone >D

[identity profile] excel-sama.livejournal.com 2006-12-16 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
INVASION OF THE KILLER PUCHUUS! >D

Puchuu #1: Puchuupuchuu! {{We are close to reaching Paradisa, Captain!}}
Puchuu Captain: Puchuu puchuu puchuu! Pupupuchu puchu puchu puchu? {{My warriors, our invasion is near! Are you ready to die to guarantee its success?}}
Puchuu Warriors: (happily) PUCHUUUUUU!
Puchuu Captain: (crying) Puchu puchuu puchuu! Pupupu puchuuu! PUCHUU! {{I'm so proud! You all earn 100-point patches! LET'S DANCE!}}
Puchuu Warriors: Puchuu! Puchuu! Puchuu!
Space Butler: So cute...

[identity profile] timesaftertimes.livejournal.com 2006-12-16 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
Totally liking this idea, it's genious~!

[identity profile] able.livejournal.com 2006-12-16 02:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you really? :D Thank you! xD;

[identity profile] timesaftertimes.livejournal.com 2006-12-16 03:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah! Count me in!

[identity profile] shargonysadros.livejournal.com 2006-12-16 07:17 am (UTC)(link)
Y'know, this wouldn't be hard for me to do. I can code up a generator, and set it so it can't choose characters that are played by the same person.

I'd need a full list of who's who, organized by player, and after that, it'd be reasonably simple...?
