LUNAR FESTIVAL

LUNAR FESTIVAL

For the next five days, Paradisa will be celebrating a holiday that is not only fun and recreational, but promotes respect and encourages others to learn more about the historical figures of residents' home worlds.

Welcome to the Lunar Festival!

What is the Lunar Festival?
The Lunar Festival is an event that takes place on Azeroth every year. It is a time reserved for paying respect and honoring great heroes of the past. The festival is held by druids and everyone is welcomed to celebrate the holiday.

Over 10,000 years ago, an evil force known as the Burning Legion attempted to invade Azeroth. Many were called to fight, and together they defeated the Legion, driving them out of the world.

It is those heroes that stood against the Legion that are honored during the Lunar Festival. Their spirits can be found all around the world, and those that pay respects are often given tokens of gratitude in return.

Lunar Festival usually coincides with the Chinese New Year, which the Warcraft holiday is loosely based on.

How is Paradisa celebrating Lunar Festival?
In Paradisa's celebration, heroes of several different worlds will be honored. Each day, two "Elders" will pay a visit to the castle out in the courtyard.

In addition, a great celebration will take place in the town for the duration of the event. Vendors will sell fireworks, foods and finery of all kinds. The castle and town will be decorated for the event as well.

DECORATIONS

The castle and town will be covered in festive decorations consisting of firecrackers, candles, banners and paper lanterns.

Watch out for those hanging firecrackers! You never know when they will go off. (In a fun yet slightly startling way. ;))

The courtyard and front grounds of the castle will also be decorated. Just beyond the gates will be a clearing where residents can fire off rockets and fireworks for fun.

RESIDENTS' ROOMS

Not only will the town be decorated, but each residents' room in the castle will also be decorated with candles and lanterns just for the occasion. (No surprise fireworks, though!)

Every day they will also find small red envelopes with one small gift inside. Each day will be a different gift: caisos, a small firework bundles, or small stones called Elune Stones, which create a ring of light when used. Children can also receive small candies instead if preferred.

ATTIRE

Along with decorations, each resident will find new sets of formal attire to wear for the occasion. These suits and dresses are made of fine silk and come in many bright colors. Feel free to play around with the general design of the look!

MARKETPLACE

Vendors will line the streets of the town for those that wish to do a bit of shopping, carrying a wide array of goods and foods for everyone to enjoy. Residents can purchase gifts for their friends, clothes, flowers, or they can sample some of the gourmet foods and dumplings offered. Be sure to try the Moonglow,* which has some rather illuminating affects on the drinker!

And, of course, each vendor will carry a wide selection of firecrackers and fireworks, sold in all sorts of colors and varieties. You can also purchase Elune's Candle, which will fire a safe firework at your friends.

*All restaurants/bars, resident-owned or otherwise, will receive a mysterious shipment of this drink to sell in their establishment!

THE ELDERS

Each day two "Elders," heroes and figures of the past from various worlds, will appear in the courtyard beneath a ring of light. Their spirits will remain for the entire day.

They will not speak, but they will react to respect shown toward them, be it with a smile, a nod, or a bow. They will not react to rude gestures or lack of respect, so any taunting or provoking will go unnoticed. They cannot be dismissed by any means, and they cannot be harmed. They're just friendly spirits!

If a character knows of the Elder present, they are more than welcome to and encouraged to tell others who they are and share their stories.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS (Including Elder visits)
DAY ONE (1/25)
The first day of the festival! Visit the town's marketplace, admire the decorations, and stock up on fireworks. There will be a big feast at sundown that will be held in the dining room.

Scheduled Elders
-Ami Fey (from Ace Attorney)
-Takezo Kensei (from Heroes)

DAY TWO (1/26)
The celebration continues with a little friendly competition. How many fireworks can you set off in a certain amount of time? Who purchased the most elaborate fireworks?

Scheduled Elders
-Cattleya (from Queen's Blade)
-Avatar Roku (from Avatar)

DAY THREE (1/27)
The evening of day three brings a wonderful display of lights as a great fireworks show is held over the duck pond. Extra lanterns line the water, inviting all to come and watch.

Scheduled Elders
-Dath'Remar Sunstrider (from Warcraft)
-Andraste (from Dragon Age)

DAY FOUR (1/28)
A number of white wolf spirits will appear on the castle grounds. They remain passive and unresponsive, and seem only to wander about. They cannot be harmed or driven away, and remain unprovoked. They are still quite a sight to see.

Scheduled Elders
-The Signless/Sufferer (from Homestuck)
-The Founders of Equestria (from My Little Pony)

DAY FIVE (1/29)
As the festival comes to an end, a surprise visitor will make itself known to the residents. How this visitor acts will depend on the kind of welcome it receives!

-Yulia Jue (from Tales of the Abyss)

Posts for events will go up daily, and everyone is welcome to tag or backtag into them.

If you have any questions regarding the event, please reply to this post, or feel free to contact Valerie or Ashley for more specifics. :)

Have fun!
