I think so, too. XD I never actually put it together until I saw your username, but a foppish fashionable man running around 1960s London sounds like a pretty great AU.

I WILL BE HONEST WITH YOU they are filed under "trashy fun" in my library. >> The author is a fascinating woman (and a wonderful live speaker--very knowledgeable, very personable), but she started the books when she was 19. And it shows, especially in the form of all the slash fodder and rape and melodrama and terrible plotting. They aren't bad by any means, but they're not High Literature (or even Medium High Literature). Which means that I always have to give a somewhat checkered recommendation, lol, because I am a little embarrassed of them even as I enjoy them. Definitely read them if the summaries grab you! But don't expect anything near to Orczy, I guess is what I'm saying.

(Also, I'm really sorry that I have so many feelings about them, omg. Sarah Monette's work is a constant topic of conversation in my household--mostly due to my roommate, who plays another character from the books here--so it's tl;dr ahoy whenever she comes up, lol.)
