Is it possible to sedate characters on the first day (i.e. when they become so fixated that it could become self-destructive?) or will the virus override any of that?

For example, previous plans were to have Carolina accidentally infect most of the UNSC cast at some point on the first day by being around them(?) and then York would have the infirmary sedate her (we're still ironing out this part) for her safety. It would also possibly mean that if she's unconscious, she won't be using any of these powers either (which I'm cool with if you guys approve!).

Would that be possible?
