But at the same time, it could also be considered pretty impersonal. :( I mean, if I woke up in a completely different place than where I was last night or whatever, I would not want to read a pamphlet about where I was -- I would want to talk to someone personally who is in the same boat at me. And while that isn't true of everybody, obviously, since some people read the journal before posting, it seems like the 'reading the journal' solution is already present to provide basic information for characters ICly, while new muns could easily read the wiki to find out the same information.
Like I said (and I think Red also said) ... somewhere up there, I forget where, I think newbies are honestly less concerned with getting all the details than they are about getting comments/CR in general. (Though I can't speak for them, obviously.) I don't think there's that big of an obligation. (But obviously, I can see why anyone would think that there's an obligation to explain stuff when commenting on an intro. I just don't think it's 100% necessary.
No, no, not at all! I'm just trying to spark more discussion about what methods we could use. Or, even better, some way to inspire people to comment more in general. Regardless of what method is used, it's still going to require some effort on people's part to keep it up.
