I have no idea, honestly; usually it's done by user-submission or just popularity... we're coming up on 46,000 entries and we've got over 2.5 MILLION comments. We're big. Bigger than a lot of communities. I mean, even campfuckudie barely has half the entries we do. (Though they've got us soundly beat for comments.)
