SPIDERS* DIRECTORY AND OVERVIEW
THE STORY SO FAR...
spiders*
part one
The message comes on the wind: tiny baby spiders, on silk-spun parachutes of web, blow into Paradisa. They whisper things: "Mother's awake! Mother's awake! The Flies coming, the Web is crying! Goodbye, goodbye, and thank you!"

part two
A spiderling named Joy has a message.
She spider-walks up Akihiko's arm, up his shoulder, and collarbone; from there she goes up their neck and alone the curve of the jaw, until she's rested on the lobe of his ear.
She tells him all about a Queen being threatened, and how surely, her life will end if there is no soul brave enough to stop her assailant. Please, please, she begs. Won't you save her?
The residents react. What to do? Is it a trap? What could this mean? What's out there? Some set up a plan of action, and the residents plan to move out and save the queen. Some set up a base for support.

part three
The Eldritch Greenwood is exactly where the spiderlings promised it would be.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep... but perhaps, lovely only on a surface level. From the edge of the forest it looks to be your standard deciduous forest, but it has that funny quality where the topmost leaves seem to weave together to block out all light, even at the peak of day. Clusters of fruits, each the size of a human head, hang from the mid-tier branches –– odd fruits with pink insides that taste like some strange strawberry and banana hybrid, covered by a skin of white peach-fuzz. They have an energizing quality to them.
A hundred yards in, the swamp starts, flooding the trees and the underbrush, and continues on further than the eye can see. Funny, too, that the bottom of the swamp seems to glow, filtering a greenish light up through the water, making shadows stretch up and beyond. This, it would seem, is the only source of light.
Abandoned at the edge of the swamp is a fleet of small canoes, seemingly carved from the same trees in the area, but fitted with modern (although rusting) steel brackets and seats.
And, last but not least, thousands of tiny spiderwebs, clustered everywhere, and a thousand little spiderling voices, singing: Clever spider spins a thread to make a trap we call a web; clever spider knows that she will have some insects with her tea.

part four
Morning comes and they all go down the swamp, clustered in little boats, in their groups. The Queen is waiting for them, the spiders urge. Quickly, come quickly.
For the most part, save the singing and the talking, it is quiet. No wildlife, nor water life, just the song and the lap of water against the boats. And then, down the river, come bodies. Not of humans, nor of spiders, but of odd little creatures. Almost froglike in build, with bulbous, dead eyes and open mouths. Some are torn apart, some are intact, but all of them are freshly dead.
Things aren't boding well.... and then the pig comes. Three tons of decaying muscle, torn flesh and gnarled horns, open wounds festering with spiders, eyes dulled by years in the dark.
Good thing they're Paradisians, and they don't intend on losing to any threat. The pig dies, and life goes on.
