TOKYO PLOT INFO POST & SIGN-UPS

Welcome to Tokyo
16 JULY through 22 JULY

On 16 July, Paradisa will go through another of its Paradisa-famous world changes. Previously, the castle has brought its residents to Paris, Los Angeles, and other Earth cities. This time, instead of being brought to a thoroughly modern, early 21st century city, Paradisa residents will find them in Tokyo during the late 1980s.

Residents will wake up in a luxury hotel replete with 1980s comfort (color TVs! VCRs!) and standard hotel amenities (swimming pool, hot tub, etc). The hotel is located in the heart of downtown Tokyo, where residents can explore video arcades and pachinko parlors, go shopping, find restaurants, catch a baseball game (go Swallows!), or get drunk and sing karaoke. Of course, they can just explore the city or hang out at the hotel too!

There will be three open posts during this plot: Day One, Day Three, and Day Seven. There will be four opt-in posts. For more information on the opt-in plot, please see below.

What happens to non-human characters?
Non-human characters (robots, sentient animals, demons, elves, etc) must either be turned human or into a normal Earth animal. Alternately, you can opt them out of the week entirely by turning them into a potted plant or a toy or something inanimate.

What about magic powers? How about advanced tech?
Magic powers will not work for the duration of this plot. An exception is, naturally, the magic journals. Technology of any level will work, however. A basic rule of thumb is if it can be explained by science, it'll work; if it's supernatural or magical on any level, it won't.

OPT-IN
Not exciting enough for you? There is an opt-in portion of this plot that is heavily action-oriented. Because of the nature of the opt-in portion, please only sign up one character per player. They don't have to be a super competent action hero, just make sure they can take direction from the people who are better suited to fighting!

The opt-in portion will occur on Sat., 20 July, and Sun., 21 July (Days 5 and 6), so please make sure you are available for at least a good portion of this time. Of course, backtagging is encouraged! Sign up by commenting here.

David here totally knows a lot of things about Asia, Japan probably included. He'll be in his element here, so if anyone wants a tour guide, they can find this guy speaking fluent Japanese in a convenience store somewhere, or in a museum.

Best thing? He's from the 80's. This is basically home!

Conan: will be trying to run home to the Beika District and to the Mouri detective agency as fast as he can. Only to find out that hie entire district has vanished, and so has half the places he knows. And none of the people he knows exist in this Tokyo.

Which will probably send him into a deep funk that he will need to be bothered out of.

So basically I'm planning on making him available for anyone who wants to bully a tour out of him. He's going to need distractions. Conan's is from early 90s Tokyo, and has solved cases at pretty much every major landmark in the city. So this is almost like coming home.

Will is going to be upset about losing his powers again, but excited about doing the tourism thing. I'm going to be headcanoning that he got letters from his older brother the merchant marine sailor about visiting Japan, and is really excited about seeing everything for himself.

Danny I have no clue on. He's had a rough time the last few plots, so he might just end up hanging out in the pool. And not going anywhere haunted.

Ohjiro is from Tokyo (born in 1982 specifically), so he may know his way around quite well. He'll almost find it weird being in Tokyo again and there's no Angelic Layer to speak of.

Since most likely 99% of my focus will be on Ohjiro in this plot, I'm opting Pixy out entirely, so he'll just be a toy model of his F-15C.

Utena was born in the early eighties, but she's never been to Tokyo before. So! While she won't be able to play tour guide, she should be able to help some characters get used to eighties Japan. Other than that, she'll be interested in seeing all the sights and playing tourist, and might drag some friends with her.

So... Blues is a robot who happens to be dying from a flaw in his power core.

That basically translate into being a human with a fatal heart condition, he`s going to have to learn how to all the normal human stuff and it`s going to be really difficult for him on top of that.

Any takers on babysitting Stubborn McGrouchypants?

Peter: Um I'm not sure what he'll be doing. Probably just hang out.
Percy: Although I want to have him in the opt-in part, I don't know my schedule for Saturday or Sunday, and won't know until later this week.
Hermione: Will be exploring all the things and helping out her castmates deal with Muggle world things
August: Will be hanging with Henry as much as possible. And any other CR that might want to be around him. He's been to Tokyo before (probably) and he grew up in the eighties, so he can help people out who are confused or lost.

I can't resist the opportunity to sign up Gary since he basically blames the Japan branch for the mess his world was left in (And not his own arrogance.) and not to mention in picked this during one of the betting pool rounds.

As for Silva it seems a perfect fit for him with the Asian connection and everything. Plus it might lead to fun shenanigans for anybody currently trying to track him.

Crowley will be hitting up all the sushi restaurants and probably trying to STAY there. Good luck moving him!
Maladict will be hating being on Earth again and likely sulking because none of this crap makes any sense to her.

Ben will be getting someone killed bemoaning all the retro but will be glad that at least it's a nice normal Earth city.

Either Mal or Ben will be signed up, but I'm hanging back to see if we need more useful or useless people in it before I make my decision.

Brock will probably be hitting bars and stuff and looking ridiculous as a 6'8" blond guy in a sea of Japanese people. He's pretty well-traveled and has theoretically been in Tokyo before, so if anyone wants him to play tour guide, he'll probably be up for it (as long as you don't want to go anywhere lame).

Connor is going to be confused as fuck, as per usual. A lot of staring and almost getting run over by cars; a lot of confusion about ramen and arcades.

Dairine: She will be peeved about losing her wizardry, but soon she'll be off exploring the area. She hasn't done much traveling on her own planet, let alone with a time slide, so this will be exciting for her. Dairine will probably be trying new food, checking out the sights, and shaking her head at the outdated technology. I may also do the opt-in plot, but I need to think on it further.

Sugar: Once she's used to being a human again, Sugar will be exploring like crazy! New places! Fun stuff! Anyone want to keep an eye on the little kid and make sure she doesn't get run over?

I offer Jane Crocker who knows very little about Japanese culture but is more than happy to learn and get into shenanigans, and Italy who will be very, very confused after everything around him changes for the second time in a month. Both are free to plot with!

Rise will be happy to be in a familiar place and want to do all the activities ever! Expect her to drag you out shopping or to (underage friendly) clubs or just anywhere in general, really. Even if everything around them is about a decade older than she is.

Of course, I'm open to other plotting too~! (Now that it's afternoon of the day before, gosh I'm late...)
